Yesterday was a working day. This morning I can feel it in my muscles. I might have to take some Vitamin I later in the day. Definitely a zero day.
After morning routine, I got the day started by looking up homeowners insurance qutoes. A quick search revealed that there wasn't much difference in price from the company I currently have, so in the end it looks like we are going to stick with them. After that I wrote a little post for my public blog on my YouTube habit. It's something I would like to rein in, but when I looked at the list and the post, maybe it's not so bad after all. I am selective, so I am not watching random slop. If I were watching the latest hit TV shows, perhaps no one would care. A curated list of YouTube channels does not seem any more out of place that watching TV.
I also looked into resurrecting my Peertube Channel. I've kind of always wanted a video channel of some sort, so perhaps using Peertube might be the answer. Low impact, relatively hidden, non-Google. It might be a good place to play and figure out what's possible.
I had taken in the Venza for service in the morning and to check those VSC lights and message, and by the afternoon I had the car back. Nothing came of the lights more than some sort of miscommunication, I was told. I had the oil changed as well, since it was still the same oil from the return trip from AZ. When I went to pick up the car, I decided to continue on and get a BBQ hot dog from my local hamburger shack, which had closed for a short period of time due to some malfunctioning equipment.
When I finished lunch, I set out to accomplish a couple of chores. I have a mound of dirt sitting in my back yard from two years ago that came from the digging done to build my back deck. I should have had the contractor get rid of it, but I thought I would use it to fill a small depression that was appearing on my front lawn where my drain pipe is located. Well, two years later, I finally started doing just that. I moved about 8 5-gallon buckets of dirt from back lawn to front, and I think about a third of the pile is gone. I did that in two sessions, not all at once. After that, I decided to put up a 200W solar panel on the roof of my shed that I had bought for that purpose. It's a CIGS panel, so a little more tolerant of bad weather. I need to clear out a portion of the shed for power station storage and charging. The panel faces more west than south, but to get it to face south I would have had to go through some other gyrations, so I settled for west. Less work, more convenience.
All this work wore me out, but I felt great for having accomplished it. I went inside to rest and recuperate, and I may have taken a little nap. I also checked up on our usual AZ location to see AirBnB prices, but I think DW and I may stay home instead this winter. Neither of us seems to have the energy to face the packing up and traveling it takes to get there. Other solutions just add cost. Perhaps with El Nińo in place, winter will be milder than usual.
I grilled some chicken breasts for dinner and DW grilled some vegetables. She filled me in on some issues Son2 was having with hig GF. She has kids, and Son2 is not into kids, and I think the difficulty centers right there. She seems to be hoping that Son2 will become a "dad," and he keeps saying he's not interested in that. We don't know where this will end up. Family drama is not my forté.
The evening brought in the ball game, which we won 5-1. I cruised the web a little bit while watching the game, saving an article by David Foster Wallace for later reading. When the game was over, I tried to stay up to my usual bedtime, but by 10:45 I was done and went to bed. For the record, I didn't get up once in the night to pee. That's unusual, and indicates the depth of my fatigue.
