It's a golf morning, so we are only going to hit the highlights here today.
After morning routine, I had to do a little tweaking to the podcast because the sound bed was a little too softer, and my proofer couldn't hear it. So I pumped that up a bit and sent it back. It turned out OK, and I replaced the file with the new one.
The big event of the day was visiting an old friend for lunch. We went to the local diner in his town and I had a huge rodeo burger, which he had a bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwich. We both caught up on our lives and situations. He was particularly interested in my project from this past summer, so I gave him the complete lowdown. Once we finished eating we went back to his place, and he caught me up on his plans. His 95yo mother is in a home (finally), and he has to go back to Chicago, but there's nothing there for him anymore. So he is thinking of coming back here by May 2027 when his Chicago lease runs out, or perhaps looking to get out of his lease and come home sooner. So we chatted about all the difficulties getting older brings with it, and I left and got back home about 4 PM. It was a good visit, if a little depressing.
I took a nap, and then passed time on the computer until dinner, which was a shwarma-like chicken dinner with potatoes. I did not eat much, as my lunch was very filling, but it was good. Then we sat down for the big event - the final game of the WPBL Championship. It was won by the Los Angeles Queens 2-0, highlighted by an amazing performance by MVP Ayami Sato, who pitched a complete game shutout. She is a 38yo Japanese woman who has been playing World Cup and Olympic baseball for close to 20 years, and this may go down as the highlight of her career. Once this game was over I turned to my team, who split a double-header, winning the afternoon game but losing the nightcap. They also lost to the first-place team, and have been eliminated from winning the division title, but they still get to the playoffs.
Some more computer to pass the time until kitchen cleanup and bedtime, which came at 11:15 PM.
