I just had a new queen bed delivered and installed in one of the bedrooms upstairs. We now have a queen bed in two of the guestrooms, and a single futon bed/couch in the third bedroom. All bedrooms upstairs have beds. All we need are guests!
DW is a super-nester, and by that I mean when the holidays roll around, or any of our children give the slightest hint that they may be coming for an overnight visit, she goes into nesting overdrive. She cleans everything she can upstairs, and worries about proper accommodations. So we have dropped about a grand getting ready for the upcoming holidays.
Now, to be clear, I think this is fine. Having the house ready at any time for our children to appear is great. Sons 1 and 2 will be here for Thanksgiving, and everyone will have a place to sleep comfortably. No air mattresses this season! But it does seem somewhat silly to spend close to a grand for the privilege of having beds in every room, when 98% of the time only DW and I are here. Ah well, such is life. Children never truly leave, I guess.
I went out for a walk this morning, and the air has turned a bit crisper. I wore a sweatshirt and did not need to take it off. The sky was occupied with a small flock of turkey vultures today. I dislike the look of those birds; they're creepy. I keep thinking they'll swoop down and take a bite out of me.
I was very tired yesterday because of a lack of good sleep, so I dragged myself through the day. My interviewee rescheduled to Thursday, since he was going to Yankee Stadium for last night's game. I watched some of the first game and all of the second, staying up a little later than usual. DW made a delicious pizziola, an Italian dish with steak and potatoes in a tomato sauce. I had too many cookies as well as half a bag of popcorn while watching the game - too many empty calories. There are more games today - 4, I think - and I'll catch some of all of them. While I love playoff baseball, I do think maybe I'm overdosing a bit on these games. But it's hard not to watch the action.
I'm debating buying another refurbished laptop to transform into a Linux machine. While this MacBook Air 2017 works fine, it's heavy, and the edges are sharp. Its battery is also weak. But even $175 seems expensive for something I don't truly need. These two Prime Days really haven't offered any true deals, and I have to be careful of spending money thoughtlessly.
DW is on her steroids now, and I haven't yet asked her if they're helping. She had to go see the optometrist today, so she missed the bed delivery. Hopefully she'll approve. I dragged down a chair she wanted downstairs as well as moving a couple of pieces of furniture in the second guestroom. She loves moving furniture, but now I try to do it before she gets to it so she doesn't do it herself, something she was prone to do in our younger days.
The weather is nice, the leaves are at their peak. We hope to get out for a drive soon!
