Yesterday was a day of getting things done. And it looks like American citizens got things done as well.
After my morning routine and some breakfast, I set out in the morning to begin closing down my camp site for the winter. I knew the day was going to include some decently hard physical labor, so I resolved to try and take things slow.
I stopped at the local farm store to pick up a tow strap, which came in handy. When I got to the camp site, I began the job of moving the trailers. I had to remove a lot of logs that had been used to keep a tarp down two winters ago. Then I used the tow strap and my car to move the trailers out of the way so I could run the mower and cut down the weeds that had grown around the edge of the trailers. I have three trailers, which is two too many, but there you have it. One of the trailers was in a different location, so I decided to move it along with the other three trailers on the north edge of the site. This will leave the south edge more open and should allow easier mowing next spring.
That was the hardest task of the day. I took a lunch break and went to a nearby village to get some pizza. I brought the pizza back to the cabin and sat on the porch, enjoying the view and the nice weather (70° and sunny).
Once I fininished lunch, I spread out the big tarp to dry. I also folded up the solar panels and stored them in the small shed. I grabbed the two spare 20 lb propane tanks I have and put them in the storage shed as well.
While the tarp was drying, I wrote a post for my public blog. The 5G there is actually pretty strong, so I used my phone's hot spot to connect. Once the tarp was dry, I folded it up and put it in the bed of one of the trailers. I will move it to the shed today when I go back up for Round 2.
I sat on the porch to rest for about 45 minutes, and I intended to stay until sunset. But I left a little earlier than that, which got me home just before dark. When I got home I sat and tried to relax for about an hour before dinner.
DW had made a turkey breast in the crock pot, so we had that with gravy and a sweet potato and a salad. I added three Advil to my meal! After dinner, I watched a Jet Li movie which appeared to be a remake of Bruce Lee's Fists of Fury (I can't recall the name offhand), and it was good - great fight chorepgraphy. Then I watched an episode of Asian Boss which looked at the rise and fall of learning English in China. I filled in the remaining time before bed watching two tent videos. Bedtime was 11:04 PM.
Notable deaths: Ryu Murakami, who explored the dark side of Japanes culture during its economic boom and then bust, 74.
That's all for now. 'Til We Meet Again!
