I know it's summer now, because the humidity has returned. I thought I would add it to the WX report at the top. This morning I am sitting under a ceiling fan in the living room. I suspect the de-humidifier might get some work in today.
Yesterday was a pretty busy day, and yet I felt I did not get much done. I did not take a walk yesterday morning, choosing instead to make the short walk from the mechanic count as a walk. I took the car in at 9:00 to get a few things looked at. When I came back, I answered an email and checked to see if my new Kagi pull request for this blog had gone through. It hadn't, so I tried again to submit it. I think I submitted the wrong URL, the actual web site, when I should have submitted the XML feed. So I submitted the feed sites, and we shall see what that brings. Realistically, including this site into a text file with 37,000 other entries won't bring back much, but at least I'm there.
As I was finishing up this task, the mechanic called, and told me there was a hole in one of the exhaust system's components, and another part of the system was in need of replacement as well. The estimated cost is $1400. I have been hitting up against big car repair bills this month, but I can console myself with the fact that they are not happening every month. Neither car had seen a repair in over a year, so averaging it out that's not bad. The Kia is going to Son1, and I want to give him a car that doesn't need immediate repairs. In sum, three cars with about $6K of repairs over a year is $500 a month. Not great, but not bad either. That's the equivalent of running three cars for the cost of one new car payment.
Anyway, they did not have the parts on hand, so as DW went out the door heading for a lunch date, she dropped me off at the mechanics to pick up the car so we can use it while we wait for parts. When I got back home, I thought I would try to resurrect my old ebike from 2017, so I dug out the battery and began charging it. I haven't checked this morning, but on my last check it had't fully charged. I'll be checking later.
I had some leftover sausage in tomato sauce with pasta for lunch. It started raining pretty hard, with lightning and thunder, which was actually fun to watch. I messed around on the computer a bit, still trying to get a grip on the Kagi small web. I also wrote a post for my public blog about this small web.
The afternoon really felt like it dragged along, and I know I didn't get much done that was productive before dinner. We had a chicken chili for dinner with tortilla chips on the side. After dinner I tuned in the ball game, but I also decided to create another XML feed and merge it with my public blog. It's an experiment, an attempt to make the blog more about longer articles and posts while moving smaller thoughts to the new XML feed. I think it can work. It's fun to push the edges of technology and see how you can make programs work in ways that perhaps the creators didn't intend, but might approve.
We won another tight game, which ended before 10 PM. I filled the last hour tweaking a few things with the experiment and answering a few comments I got. I cleaned the kitchen and went up to bed by 11:15 PM.
