Hey There!
It's 8:29 AM EDT, 68°F, Humidity 71%, Wind 13 mph N, overcast, AQI 36
I slept pretty well last night, not getting up to pee until 6 AM. Then I went back to bed and slept until 8 AM. The air has a chill in it from the north wind lightly blowing.
Yesterday, as usual, I went through my morning routine. But the morning contained a little action, as a controversy brewed up within my rotisserie league. It had to do with the acquisition of a player and the rules under which he was NOT acquired. I happened to be the person who did not acquire said player. The reasons are probably too obscure for a blog like this, so I won't get into much detail. I was not overly concerned about the situation, but I thought I had a better way of approaching a solution than that which was proposed. However, no one else in the league agreed with me - not an unusual occurrence. I always seem to be the odd person out when it comes to reforming things about the league. At any rate, the situation got resolved in the end. And as it turned out, the player in question immediately broke his hand and is out for 4-6 weeks, so getting the player would have made no difference! As one other owner said, "Karma is a bitch."
I also had a quick chat with Son2 about the market. I wish he wasn't so fixated on being rich sometimes. He wants to have things and do things and he wants all the money to do them NOW. I think it's a bad focus, but it's his life. Son1 is so different. He stresses about having enough money so he can stop living paycheck-to-paycheck, and that's all. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum.
At 12:30 I went in to the eye doctor. All is well, except I am developing a cataract in my left eye which is causing a bit of double vision. With my glasses on there's no problem, but if I cover my right eye, the left one sees double. He says the cataract is still too small to remove, so we're ignoring it for now. But I also found out that he has stopped during surgery, so when the time comes it's going to be someone else removing the cataract. That's what happens when all your medical people are as old as you - they retire, and you don't know where to turn next.
Around 3:30 PM I went over to my colleague's house to perform a few computer tasks. He wanted to have the collection of photos from the build of the Discovery Trail in the local park on his computer, and so I brought over the pictures on my own portable drive rather than downloading them at his house. So that took only a few minutes. Then I fixed their TV, which was presenting them some channels in secondary languages. They didn't realize their setting were for secondary language channels and didn't know how to reverse that, so I did it for them. I am a computer god to them! I was rewarded with blueberry muffins and a Modelo beer. We chatted a bit after about life and other sundries and plans for the future. The I headed home.
Dinner was a bit early because DW was hungry. We had some baked sea bass (I believe) with leftover pasta primavera from the weekend. Pretty tasty. Then I settled in for the ball game. While I watched the ball game I prepared a post for my public blog from an ancient post I wrote 9 years ago and re-posted it to my current blog. The team pulled off a win, but came very close in the 9th inning to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. The team's closer gave up a 2-run HR, bringing the opposition to within one run of tying the game. But he retired the final batter and all was well.
Since the games are in the Central Time Zone they are ending a bit later, so once the game was done, I went into the kitchen to clean it up, and then headed for bed at 11:02 PM.
'Til We Meet Again!
