Hey There!
It's 7:59 AM EDT, 62°F, Humidity 75%, Wind 15 mph W, partly sunny, AQI 16 (good).
It's cool and breezy this morning, and the air seems to be rid of smoke. The coolness brings a fresh feeling with it. I may even toss on a sweatshirt or something.
Yesterday was a rather unfocused and aimless day. I was glad not to have to work with the project, but at the same time a certain sense of meandering through the day seemed to be what I was doing. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I also have hanging over my head a few things I need to accomplish, and I guess it's this sense of future obligations that causes that unfocused feeling.
Yesterday the woman who cleans our house finally came over. Her husband is ill, and sometimes when she's scheduled to show up she calls at the last minute to cancel. That happened last week. When she does come, it's not that we have to stop what we're doing, but we do have to limit where we are to a certain degree. No breakfast or shower until she leaves, for example. I tend to stick to the back office while DW went out on the porch. She had the better of it.
Once she left, we had breakfast. The weather yesterday was rainy with thunderstorms, so it wasn't conducive to outdoor activities. In the morning I thought about the issues I had at the campsite, and saw a little item on sale that I think might help solve the situation, so I bought a 100Ah battery that comes with a small DC charger and breaker box hub. I actually already own one of these, but the newer version has a cigarette port on it that will make it more versatile than the older version. If I add an AC inverter to the setup, I have quite a nice little power station. So we'll wee what happens when it comes.
I also looked into camping reservations for an overnight trip to deliver the Kia to Son1 next week. The ReserveAmerica website is a total disaster. Gone are the days when you could just roll up into a state park and get a campsite. Everything is through the ReserveAmerica system, and adds close to an $8 service fee to the cost. It's just another one of those modern annoyances that makes travel so much more unpleasant.
I also researched the price of accommodations for the upcoming baseball trip in August, and settled on an AirBnB that appears close to both the airport and the baseball field. It was a reasonable cost for three nights in one house for 4 people, so we snatched it up. You never know what you get with AirBnb. So far I've been lucky, with only one mediocre experience. I figured we could survive anything for three nights.
I took a nap between 2-3:30 PM. It might have been a little too long. Long naps produce a groggy feeling when trying to wake up again. The time between waking up and dinner was filled with a video and an Aeon article. Dinner itself was leftovers, consisting of the beef casserole meal from Monday as well as a salad.
Since the ballgame was rained out, I had to fill in the evening with something. That something turned out to be a couple of videos. One was from Asian Boss, explaining the national debt of Japan and why it's not so bad as people think. The second was from a financial web site called The Plain Bagel, created by a young Canadian financial advisor that has grown to become something of a watchdog site for financial fraud on the internet. Both were worth the time. Youtube videos can be worth the time if you find the right ones. I also diddled around with looking at the price of new electric cars. I would like to own an electric car in a few years, if and when we stop going to the SW for the winter. I had the last piece of peach pie, cleaned up the kitchen, and went to bed at 11:05 PM.
'Til We Meet Again!
