Yep, it's hazy, hot, and humid. The most uncomfortable weather in nature. We'll essentially be trapped indoors for the next few days.
Yesterday was, once again, a rather typical day for the time being. The big difference, I think, is the heat and humidity. DW, who suffers quite a bit during this type of weather, came down and immediately put the minisplit on for AC. Tomorrow we are scheduled to go up to Big City to have a cardioversion performed on her, so I spent some time helping her with the technology of getting checked in through the portals and apps and all the other shot that the medical industry throws at you these days.
After breakfast I re-did all the paperwork to get Son1 the Kia, and then dropped all that in the mail. Then I went upstairs to take a shower, and after that spent what was left of the morning getting the bedroom AC unit installed. We've decided to sleep in a smaller room with better blackout curtains during the heat wave. Hopefully that will mean less power consumption from the AC. Perhaps it's time to buy a more efficient unit, but I can't really tell, and my nature tends to be use what you have. It was efficient for its day, and it's not too noisy once it gets up to speed. We don't live in a region where this kind of weather is common, so for now this will serve the purpose.
I left at noon for the day's project meeting. The FL (female lead) and I went over a few sections where the timing has to be right, but while we were doing that her phone rang. She didn't answer it, but when we took a break she checked her messages and discovered her house had become smoke-filled and almost started to bun from a pot of rice she had on the stove and forgot to turn off before coming to the meeting. She tried to get through the large part of the project, but while we were working, she suddenly got up and said she had to go home and see what happened. So she left.
The director and I sat for an interview I wanted to do with him, and then he left. I finished up what I could with the two assistants we have, and then I left about 4PM. Not a terribly productive session. I sent a text to FL to see how she was doing, and she said she was cleaning up the smoke damage, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
Dinner was a small piece of fish and a crabcake, plus a salad. It's very difficult to cook in the heat. After dinner, we had a long conversation with Son1 about exchanging the car and what he had to do to get license plates for the car. We also chatted a bit about his writing career and how it's going (it's a hobby really), and sort of caught up with him and his family.
I started to watch the ballgame, but by the 4th inning it was another large loss for the team. They've lost 6 in a row at this point. I turned it off, and turned my attention to YouTube. I caught a couple of videos from a camping gear reviewer, and I also watched one by Asian Boss about AI and data centers. That was fascinating, and I learned a lot. It was a very worthwhile watch. Then I finished up with a channel I've never seen before about retiring to cheap places overseas. This guy is pretty straightforward in his delivery, not much nonsense, just him and his microphone, with some B-roll sprinkled in here and there. He himself lives in Vietnam at the moment. Even though I have no plans to retire abroad, I may watch more of his videos for the information. I do like videos with straight-on deliveries. Bedtime was 11:25 PM.
