Yesterday was a relaxed day for the most part. After the morning ritual, I did an interview for my podcast. The interviewee was a Navy musician, and he was delightful to talk to. He had a respectful professional career in opera and musical theatre before joining the Navy. He had done deep research into sea shanties, and the information was great fun to hear. He will be a very popular guest on the show.
After the interview, DW and I went out for a short ride so I could feel how I was doing driving after my BVVP episode. All seems well, and I feel back to normal. We had a nice conversation in the car about future trips out west to escape the snow and the possibility of other options, but we came to the conclusion that as long as I felt I could do the drive, we could continue what we've been doing. Any other option just requires more expense.
I keep forgetting that here in AZ there is no such thing as a "short drive." I had stopped at the local Honda store to pick up a bolt for the CT125, and then we did a loop around the area. But here, distances are deceiving. I think the "short drive" turned into a small 90-minute excursion. I was surprised at the time when we got home.
It's beginning to warm up substantially here, and I decided to take a nap in the bedroom, the warmest room in the house. It felt quite good. I napped for about 45 minutes, and then DW started making dinner when I got up. Dinner ended up being a sausage and potatoes mixture, with the sausage being locally grown. Good stuff.
My evening was spent doing some more research on simplifying a website. But I have now come to the conclusion that there is nothing simpler than this site. Since I am uninterested in raising any attention to this blog, I need nothing but what this service offers - a chance to write words. That's it.
I listened to a CBC Radio podcast featuring Cory Doctorow and Matt Hussey. I was more interested in Doctorow, since I subscribe to his newsletter and enjoy and respect his ideas. He's as good a talker as he is a writer. It was very engaging. The second guest was less interesting, but his analogy of the internet becoming similar to a mall where nobody goes, but the music still plays from the speakers, I found intriguing. The big takeaway from the podcast was the fact that there are now more bots on the internet than actual people. That's concerning. Bedtime was 11:02 PM.
I did not listen to POTUS's SOTU. That would have been a complete waste of valuable time.
