Hey There!

It's 8:26 AM EDT, 71°F, Humidity 84%, mostly sunny, Wind 8 mph S, AQI 53

Yesterday was the back end of the quick trip to Son2's city. I woke up, and we had to get stuff together to meet Son2 for breakfast at a local nearby hash joint. I hadn't slept well so I didn't have much energy during breakfast, but I drank enough coffee to get me through. The place where we ate breakfast is something of a city icon, as it's a lunch counter place with no-frills food and reasonable prices, harkening back to mid-20th century days. All cash. My shaved steak breakfast sandwich was as bland as could be. But I can see why it's popular with its clientele. A decent meal for a reasonable price, bottomless coffee, and fast service. We had a detailed conversation about a problem student, the first one he's had, and then some other business about real estate and moving to a larger space. After breakfast we got on the road for the two-hour drive back.

Arriving home, I sat down to write yesterday's post. Once I finished that, the day was suddenly free. I went and put some finishing touches on my podcast for release today, browsed apartments in Son2's city as an alternative to getting a house. checked on my fantasy team, and assorted other websites. I did run into a new electric scooter I'd love to own, but again, I ran into the same problem I always run into these days - what would I use it for? I just want to have it as a toy and ride it, but the used EV I have does that job now, so no point in spending another $4K just for the experience. As my life diminishes, the purpose of such things diminished as well. I would love to have them, but I have no use case for them anymore.

I took a nap at about 4:00 and slept for close to an hour. I think the lack of sleep the night before plus the drive home made me sleepy. When I got up, DW had prepared some pork chops for me to grill, but I ran out of propane. She put them in the oven and they came out nice.

After dinner I turned on the ball game. Finally, the team woke up and scored some runs. The win was satisfying; good pitching supported by more than one run. That gets it done.

Once the game was over, I checked into some motorcycle content on YouTube. Same story as above: things I'd live to have and do, only to realize I have no use case for them or I already own a similar item. I got to tell you, it's a little depressing to realize you won't be using even the stuff you have as much as you want, let alone buying new stuff. I was about to go to bed when I realized I hadn't cleaned the kitchen, so I did that, secured the house, and went to be about 11:33 PM.

Notable deaths: Arlene Smith, lead singer for The Chantels who wrote and performed the do-wop hit "Maybe", 84.

That's all for now. 'Til We Meet Again!
