Looks like another pretty nice weather day ahead. The week ahead promises lovely fall weather.
Yesterday I kind of actually took it easy. That's not something I do well. But it hit me that the holiday should be a day of relaxation, so I did my best to do that. I went through my morning routine, wrote and scheduled my "thank you" email to my podcast guests, cancelled my unused Spotify account, posted a comment on a sports blog, and then got showered up. That was most of the morning.
In the afternoon, DW put out a real lunch of chicken salad and fruit. A holiday lunch. Then I went to sit in the back porch, and I ended up listening to most of a podcast and faling asleep by the end of it. These new hearing aids I have just play whatever comes out from my phone, and they are convenient in that way.
In the afternoon I checked into and downloaded two programs. One is OsmAnd, an Open Street Maps-based navigation program. One of my last Google services I'd like to get rid of is Maps. Osmand was confusing at first, because your account seems to live in the cloud and not the app. You download maps as you need them on your device, so I have the NE right now since I'm not driving anywhere in the near future. I also downloaded a new Markdown editor called Marktext, since the one I have been using will soon be obsolete.
I also did a ittle research on the player in the WPBL that was ejected from the last NY Heoghts game. It turns out she has been suspended for one game, but not they playoffs. She will be suspended the first game of next season, provided that there is a second season. A good way to save face.
Dinner was absolutely delicious. We had two very thick pork chops, which were marinated and which I grilled. We added sweet potatoes and fried zucchinis and squash. A nice holiday dinner. I added a Leinenkugel Summer Shandy to complete the final summer meal.
After dinner I sat out in the back porch again and enjoyed a little bit of the evening. I listened to another podcast, and I even broke out the small propane fire pit I have and had a small "campfire." That was nice. After awhile I went back inside and was checking out a website that pointed me to a new and interesting YouTube channel. He's a financial planner named Jeff Schmidt, and he's real low key and straightforward. His channel is Holy Schmidt, and I found his advice interesting. The video that drew me in was a video demonstrating that states with no income taxes may not necessarily be the states that are cheapest to live in. I watched a few more of his videos until it was time to go to bed at 11:15 PM. All in all, a relaxing Labor Day - no real labor!
