Hey There!
It's 3:49 PM EDT, 69°F, Humidity 70%, Wind 6 mph N, partly sunny
It's a late entry today, as we got up and traveled from PA back home. But still time to get an entry in.
Yesterday was a sightseeing day. We started at the Elk Country Visitors center, and we watched a nice movie about the elk population in PA. Then we took a trip up to a place called the Top of the World, using a road that was mostly pressed asphalt. As we began to climb, what I thought at first was an elk statue on someone's lawn turned out to be an actual elk! Huge antlers! I wanted to take a picture but I was too worried about making the elk nervous, so we just slowly drive by. Amazing moment.
The views from up the top of the world were fantastic, but the weather for the day was cloudy and at times drizzly. The view was really vast, but the weather took away from the thrill just a bit.
When we got down from the viewpoint we had lunch at a place called the Driftwood Bar and Grill. Slow, but OK. I had a club sandwich while DW had some boneless wings. I added some deep fried mushrooms.
Then we took a meandering scenic drive through the region. There were a couple of other viewpoints along the way, but again, the weather was not conducive to views. But the leaves were at the very beginning of their change, with yellows being very prominent. And the roads were empty, so we got to drive at a leisurely pace.
When we got back to the motel, I took a nap. It seems driving wears me out a little more quickly these days. Neither of us were hungry, so we skipped dinner and spent the evening with DW watching her shows and me watching videos. I watched an episode of Asian Boss on how Apple cracked the Japanese market with the iPhone. We got to be real early, at 10:30 PM. Except for the weather, it was a nice day of sight-seeing and getting an early taste of leaf-peeping.
That's all for now. 'Til We Meet Again!
