Hey There!
I'm still up at the campsite, and just finished dinner. Another hamburger, with a side of Knorr's Creamy Chicken Parmesan Rice, and more carrots and cukes. Turns out I had a can of ice tea in the cooler, so that accompanied dinner. I wish I could have had a beer, but drinking beers sometimes disturbs my sleep too much, so I passed. Better to save those for home.
It was a fussy day in some ways. I woke up later than I thought I would, but at a normal time if I was home. I made some coffee, but up here it's instant, which I really don't mind all that much. Less fuss. I took my walk around 9 AM, and when I got back I started fussing with my solar setup rather than making breakfast. I noticed last night that I could not run my CPAP off the house battery. There is a 12V connection to the 12V block, but I am not sure how many amps it can draw. After two attempts and two shutdowns, I just plugged my CPAP into the large power station and used it. The CPAP uses only around 12% of the power when I use DC, so it was in no danger of running out. But the fact that I couldn't draw down the house battery with the CPAP was a bit of a bummer. I'm going to test a smaller unit tonight. I'm formulating a plan whereby I use the larger power station to run the fridge, and then actually charge the smaller stations via AC power from the larger station. We'll see how that plays out. I did that exact thing this afternoon, charging the smallest station off the 1Kw station that has run the fridge all summer, and damn if that wasn't a success. I might set that up tomorrow before I leave and see how it plays.
Anyway, it got too late to cook breakfast, and I was running out of water, so I went to town and got a breakfast sandwich with a donut and coffee. I was going to buy water, but then I thought I'd try to filter the RV water with my camping water filter. When I got back, I spoke with my northern neighbor when he came over to mow one of my fields. He's moving, and I will miss him. He says the person who bought his place is a retired superintendent or school principle from MN, and he and his wife have two young kids. I will have to make arrangements with him and see about whether he wants all or part of my 20 acres, or if he just wants to use the extra pasture in return for mowing my fields (AG says he's bringing horses and a tractor). He's moving in around Oct. 1, so we'll see what happens then.
I mowed my own patch of lawn, and when I was done I didn't feel like packing up and going home. Amazing how fatigued you can become. I actually took a nap after filtering some water to drink and cook with. Tonight I'll probably light up my propane fire pit and listen to a ballgame. It's in the central time zone, so I hope I can manage to stay up for all of it. With the shorter days it'll be dark by 8:30, so I have to get things completed before the dark sets in. Home by tomorrow morning.
