Yesterday was once again a day of small accomplishments. The day started out foggy, which must have affected Memorial Day ceremonies, but became sunny later in the day.
After my morning routine (no walk), I settled in to write a post for my public blog. It's the second-to-last post of a series I'd been working on, and took a while because I wanted to accompany it with images. That took me to just past noon.
Then I went out to replace the gas struts on my EV hatchback. Of course, I initially failed in trying to find out how to replace them. The directions were probably accurate, but made no sense to me in the beginning. So off to YouTube! Lo and behold, there was a video with my exact model on how to replace the struts. The screwdriver I was using was probable a tad too big in the blade, but it worked well enough. The toughest part was finding a way to keep the sun out of my eyes so I could see what I was doing.
I had the first strut replaced when my former colleague and neighbor called with some computer difficulty. I offered to come over and look into the problem. It turned out that there was a disconnect between administrator password for the computer and the password for Gmail. So I had to explain that the computer wanted the computer's administrator's password (my colleague) so as to unlock the user password chain for the site. That got them fixed up. Once that was done we chatted for a bit, and I looked at the construction of a small stage he was working on for the park installation. I envy his ability to work with his hands and construct solid, real objects like a small stage. I'd never be able to accomplish a feat like that. But then again, he can't solve simple computer problems, so I guess we're even. I went back home and replaced the second strut with a sense of accomplishment and victory.
I tuned in the afternoon ball game, but slept through about half of it. Another tight victory - we may be getting good at late-inning wins. After the game, I installed a small cable run mat for the extension cord to my charger, and it looks OK. I think it's time though to remove the satellite wires I'm no longer using on the side of the house.
We grilled a Memorial Day meal of hamburgers, sweet potato fries, and cole slaw. Then I settled in for the evening to watch the second half of the movie I started the day before, as well as watching a second one. The second movie kept me up later than usual. I think watching movies wrecks my sleep a little, as the scenes and themes play out in my head as I try to fall asleep. This fact may account for the nap I took during the ballgame. Bedtime last night was 11:50 PM, and I went to bed without cleaning up the kitchen. Getting a slower start today.
