I'm getting a late start today because I had a lot I wanted to get accomplished in the morning, and I figured it would be better to get them off the desk before I began anything else.
Yesterday after my morning routine I did get out for a walk. The temperature here is running quite warm for this time of year, but it was nice walking in the heat for a change. I wore my boonie hat for the first time to keep the sun off my head.
After breakfast, I went off to the DMV to get the paperwork for the EV. Unfortunately I was unaware of a few small details, so I had to register the car in my name only. I don't know if things changed a bit since I last registered a car. When I've bought cars over the past 10 years or so the dealers have handled the registrations. DW is a bit prickly about having cars in both our names. Somehow she thinks she's going to get cheated or lose the car if I should kick it. I tried to let her know that, since she's the executor of my estate, she has full control over what happens to the car. Also, the situation is not permanent, but we'd need to do the paperwork once the new title comes in to change it with her name on it.
I then set to work putting together the final podcast of the season. I always take a summer break, so putting together this last one means after today I'll have off for a few months. This one is not particularly difficult, and the interviews didn't need much editing, but even at that I had to struggle to find a few ancillary pieces of music to create the segues.
At about 3:45 I had to gently wake DW up so we could go pick up the new-to-us EV. The former owner had it all ready and put the plates on for us. I drove it home with DW following. I'm very thrilled about the whole thing. It feels nice not to be in the thrall of oil companies.
Once we got home, I tried to finish up the podcast, but I left a few things unfinished for today. We had a dinner of sausage and rigatoni in a tomato sauce. Then I watched the ball game, which had a nerve-rattling ending, but the team pulled it off. While watching the game I put the EV on the charger, and by the end of the evening I had about 60 miles of range. That's plenty for us given our intended use case. I closed out the day reading up on the possibility of buying a cheap Android tablet from Walmart for couchside. Maybe; maybe not. Haven't decided yet. Bedtime was 11:07 PM.
