Yesterday was a relatively busy day. After my morning coffee ritual and a shower, I spent time chatting with Son2 about his investment portfolio. IMO, he spends too much time obsessing over his investments, but at least he's actively saving and investing for his future, so I can't complain really. He wanted to take some gains he had made last year and move them over to safer funds, i.e. rebalance. We found some dividend funds for him, as well as a few interesting foreign investment funds. We wanted to protect his money from a possible AI/Big Tech fallout, so the objective was to move money from S&P 500 funds heavy in tech over into funds less tech-heavy and more diversified. We read in the NY Times that some index funds are now considered technically non-diversified since they hold more than 25% of their AUM in one sector (tech). So that's the motivation for rebalancing the funds.
Then, in the afternoon, I went over to a guy who makes Youtube content to have an new windshield put on my Honda Trail 125. It was fun meeting him, as I've been watching his content for over a year (I always look for CT 125 content). He got the new windshield on, which required a little bending of the bar, something I would not have been able to do. I was willing to pay him, but of course he refused. So I'll be repaying him by using his links to buy gear, watching his videos to the end, and liking and commenting. That's really the best way to repay him. He is sponsored by a lot of companies, and he makes no bones about it. He makes a decent chunk of change every month, but I don't think he lives on it completely. I am discovering that a part-time Youtube channel can be fairly profitable, but I just don't want to do the work.
The new windshield is an amazing addition, and adds about 3MPH to the bike. I was able to see 56 MPH and keep a steady 49 MPH on the highway, something I couldn't do before it was installed. I had to lose the front rack, but the tradeoff was worth it. It feels way peppier.
When I got home I tried to clean up a bit, but I also went to F's website and ran through all his recent videos so they recorded as being seen all the way through, and dropped some comments. I've also found another site that does extensive videos on local historical sites, and I've been cataloging them for future visits. This site is straightforward, mostly narration and nothing else. It's really one that is right up my alley.
Dinner was the lasagna that we bought last week at the farmer's market. It was good - very clean and fresh flavor. DW and I spent the night relaxing; she watches her TV shows, and I watch my Youtube videos. Bedtime was 11 PM. Not a bad day.
