Hey There! It's 9:36 AM, 23°F, cloudy. It's been a while since the temperature has risen above freezing.
Yesterday was not the best of days. In the morning, after all my morning routines were completed, I took DW to her cardiologist appointment. I went in to meet her new cardiologist, as her former one retired. He's pretty young, which is nice for a change. All went well, and DW is in good shape. I asked about her Apple Watch, and I went ahead when we got home and bought an upgrade for Christmas. I wasn't planning to do it, but the versions after Series 4 have the ECG feature. I went with a Series 6 because I wanted the watch to be able to install the latest software.
Then in the afternoon I took her back and forth to PT. In between I went and bought a small scoop for the sidewalk melter. I also got some cash for the neighbor boy as an advance for clearing the driveway and sidewalks for the winter.
When she got back, DW nagged me a little about the holiday family letter, and I blew up a little. I used to write the holiday newsletter all by myself when the kids were younger, but now everyone wants to make sure whatever is in the newsletter is "approved" by them. DW is fussy about which photo I choose; Daughter and Son1 are fussy about what's said about them; Son2 gets a little outrageous. The newsletter is not really mine anymore, and I have to wait on everyone to get their blurbs in and choose photos and what have you. It was more fun when the kids were young and at home and I could choose what I wanted, but now it's simply a pain, and I told her so. This will be the last year of it. We used to get a lot more of these newsletters, and I used to enjoy reading them, but they are few and far between now, and I feel their usefulness and purpose has faded. If they're still a thing, they've been taken over by online companies that create them. So I think the time has come to let it go. If the kids want to write their own newsletters they can. DW can send cards.
Dinner was leftovers. I chose the chicken and rice pilaf with a salad. DW had cauliflower and veggies plus a re-heated potatoe with cheese and ground beef. Leftover nights are good because cleanup is easy.
Sean came over to collect his money for the shoveling, and then I settled in to more of the Ashes tournament. Australia has finished batting, and now England is at the crease chasing 177 runs and then attempting to add as much as they can to their total before Australia comes to bat for their second innings. Bedtime was about 11:05 PM.
The news about all the violence in the world these past few days is disturbing, but listening to our President discussing Rob Reiner's murder has been disturbing and revolting. He is what he is, and it's no longer a question of whether or not he has any shame. He hasn't. It's a question of whether the people of the US have any shame for having put this man in office.
'Til We Meet Again!
