I haven't been outside yet since we're in a motel room, but 56° seems cool. Fall is definintely creeping up on us.
Yesterday we packed up and left Springfield IL, dropping off Daughter at the airport on the way out. As always, it was an emotional scene for DW, as she hates to see her children leave after a visit. Friend took off in her own car for MN earlier in the morning. Once we dropped off Daughter, DW and I hit the road for home.
The trip was not bad, but it's been so long since I've traveled in the summer that I am now unused to it. We took one detour around the Indianapolis area due to construction, and we took another about halfway between Indianapolis and Dayton because of an accident that apparently closed all eastbound lanes, It was about a 40-mile trip on US 40, the National Road, so we got to pass through some small towns along the way and saw some interesting houses. One house had a reconstruction of a gas station as it would have appeared in the 1950s or so. We didn't lose too much time, but losing the hour put us into the motel around 6 PM.
We ate the leftover prok and rice we had on Saturday afternoon, which was great because it relieved the need to find dinner. DW had somehow wrenched a muscle in her left shoulder, so we massaged that and put some aspirin cream on it. I spent the evening watching videos: Asian Boss, a video on price surveillence, one on a character named Jungle Jim, and a Peter gunn episode. Bedtime was 11:20 PM.
