Hey There! It's 9:02 AM, 58°F, overcast/windy
Yesterday was a day full of activity. My morning routine seems to be rounding back into shape, albeit without a morning walk yet. Not sure if I will go on one today, as the wind is gusting rather fiercely. Maybe by this afternoon it will die down a bit.
We are in the process of stocking our freezer back up, and yesterday we went down to a local butcher to pick up some pork. It's a great place to buy farm-raised meat in the region. We did not buy too much, but enough for now in terms of getting through a month. We are supposed to get some beef from another local producer, but DW is negotiating with her because what's on their web page is not necessarily what's in their freezers. That negotiation is ongoing.
The drive takes about two hours or so round trip. In the process, DW has been talking with her niece and her sister about getting her sister into assisted living. I won't delve into this too much, but suffice to say DW's sister needs to go into assisted living, but refuses. She and her daughter don't know how to talk to each other, and they end up in endless fights. DW is trying to convince her sister to go into assisted living as well, but her sister has become paranoid and delusional about the whole issue. Suffice to say it's not a good situation. Yesterday's result ended up in the daughter's decision to send her mother back home via ambulette and let her live alone in her house, which is what she's been insisting she wants to do, but really cannot. There's a lot of stress here for DW.
I spent the afternoon making phone calls. One was to cancel an unneeded dental appointment, the second was to check to see if an account had been completely paid, and the third was to restore some TV to the house. That call took an hour to accomplish with the company. In the end our TV/Internet bill is lower than when we left home, and I am getting the sports channels I want, but it still does not seem worth it to me in the end. Ah well.
I also got a call from a former student who lives in Chicago and who is looking for talent to appear in a possible movie he's going to shoot in June. I may jump in, but I would also be in the middle of rehearsal for a show in July. I think I can make both work, but film projects are always sketchy. Son2 is also potentially in the mix. Might be fun; might not happen.
I ended the day watching a ballgame on my new channel lineup, and changing some email addresses. I have found that email is still coming to my old gmail address, and I have to look in the trash to make sure I receive them and tell people I have a new email address. I have a response that goes out saying that, but I guess people don't read those or just don't make the effort to change contact information.
