Hey There!

I missed yesterday, darn it. I didn't realize that until this morning when I woke up. I made the transition yesterday back from the campsite to home, and I think in the transition I lost track of what I was doing. I remember mentioning to DW that it felt like 4PM when in fact it was only 11:30AM. It's a bummer because yesterday was the 1-month anniversary of starting this project, and I would have liked to have a one-month entry. No worries, however. It's not anything major in the grand scheme of things. So I note as I begin this morning that this blog is now one month and one day old, with only two missing days in that time frame. Off we go with month 2!

The time at the land finished up with another propane fire and a ballgame, but I ran out of propane sooner than I expected. It was a 5lb can, but it only lasted two nights. That doesn't seem too long. In the morning, I got up, made coffee, and went out for a walk on the road. The road is now paved with asphalt, and I am not sure I like it. On this road there are only two houses, and the road sort of dead-ends onto another seasonal road. I didn't see the need for asphalt. It's pretty raised up, too, and created quite a bump at the end of my gravel driveway. I think the town tried to help out by dumping dirt onto the shoulder to make a more sloped drop, but it's not much help. Now I've got to be careful when I come in and out that the front end of the car doesn't dive into the shoulder. I guess they had to spend their money on something.

The other thing that gets to me about paving the road is that it kind of ruins the sense of time. I'm off the grid, and one of the beauties of the place is that the view is unspoiled by electric or telephone poles. When you look south, it's almost pristine. The dirt road gave it a sense of rural character going back to the early 20th century. The paved road feels like an anomaly, an intrusion on this bucolic scene. No one asked me if I wanted the road paved, but not being a permanent resident, I'm not sure anyone cared. As with most small things in life, it is what it is. Walking on the paved road is not the same as walking on the dirt road.

I packed everything up and came home. Once I got home, I took care of a few small errands. Finally managed to get Venmo to send $500 to Daughter. Checked on a couple of appointments and began preparing for my next two podcasts. I found another 200W solar panel for $107 so I bought it. I think if I buy one of these panels a month I can have an 800W array for home. We'll see.

Chatted with S2 while listening to the ballgame last evening. The game was excruciating in the end. S2 is working with a student who's not a particularly good actor, and he feels he can't help her, but she's a paying customer. Growing pains for him.

I think that's about it. Today I have one appointment with my senior technology student. The weather may hamper other plans. A bit of rain just passed through, and some more is on the way. We can use it.

'Til We Meet Again!
