Hey There!
It's been a rather busy day, but not overly busy. The day started off with a round of golf. I scored two pars, but one has an asterisk next to it, because I used two balls on that hole, having lost my tee shot. I should note that my partner and I do not keep score when we play, so if we score a par, we simply note that. No penalties for OOB or lost/dropped balls or any of that nonsense. Both of us are close to bogey golfers on the average. Our 9-hole round usually takes about 2 hours, as we walk. We play about once a week, and usually we're the only players walking the course. $15/9 holes. A bargain.
When I got home I did a little financial planning with Son2, who is really very serious and dedicated towards saving for retirement. He wanted to do a little re-balancing. We do it via gChat. I like to keep his portfolio simple if I can, but he does like to pick an occasional single stock or three outside of his mutual funds and ETFs.
Then I went over, as I do every Thursday, to my 84-year-old technology student for today's lesson. I think she was a little tired today because her concentration level was not that high. We worked on learning how to adjust the audio, and making sure she understood how to get back to her Substack subscription page. Even simple things are hard for her to remember. I know I am very frustrated by how poorly technology is designed for senior citizens. I am beginning to think there's an age limitation to using technology simply as a matter of physical inability. Memory, sight, hearing, and sound all play a role in managing technology, and when that fades, it's difficult to manage today's tech.
I got back home and prepared the car for tomorrow's road trip to Son1. I still have to pack, but it's only an overnight trip, so not too much to deal with. DW makes a project out of anything; she's incapable of simply getting in the car and going. She needs to wash the windows, make sandwiches, think about bringing food along for Son1. Keep it simple is my motto. There are stores and fast food places and everything you need on the road. Sometimes I'm surprised she doesn't make me travel with two gallons of extra fuel.
I am getting obsessed with EDC gear. Multitools, knives, flashlights, those sorts of things. I want to make an EDC pouch for each car. It's a matter of being prepared, but it's not like I'll be using a lot of this stuff on an everyday basis. But it's just so fascinating, and the tools and gear so advanced.
Baseball tonight, and then bed. I have to make sure I get enough sleep for the drive tomorrow.
