Hey There! It's 8:15 AM EST

Yesterday was an OK day, but there were facets of it that were more interesting than others. And more challenging.

The morning walk was nice because the sun was out for most of the day, and there was little wind. Days like those it's a pleasure to get outside. We got a lot of text messages from Son1 and family, who are coming for the entire Thanksgiving weekend, along with their dog. I am not looking forward to this. My routine now is so quiet that having that many people (3) in the house, along with a dog, is not my idea of a good time. It will be busy enough, what with cooking and cleaning and all that, but I suspect it will also be tiring and exhausting.

I had intended to use the day as one to get the final chores done on the land, but I had to schedule two interviews, so I stayed home. I needed to clean my back office - de-clutter it really - so I took on that task. I threw out a chair that DW has been wanting to get rid of for some time, and took a good deal of the stuff to other locations. I have a collection of vinyl records that is so heavy I can't move it anymore, so I left it in the room. The only way I could move it is to empty it, move the storage tub to another location, and then move the records an armful at a time to the new location of the storage tub. Tedious.

I did my two interviews, and had lunch in between. They went OK, and so now I have all I need to get the next podcast out.

I came to discover as the day went on that a post I had written for my front-facing blog talking about one year using the service got some responses, something I'm not used to. I spent time thanking people and checking out their digital contributions. I might even begin to follow one or two.

DW is in a rough place these days because her sister is nothing but a bag of misery and calls her too often to do nothing but complain and indulge in self-pity. We've told her time and again what she should do to get help for herself and move into assisted living, but she really wants someone to take care of it all for her. Her daughter is no help, castigating her mother all the time for the simple fact that she's old, and complains she doesn't have the time to help her mother she's so busy. There is, I perceive, trouble ahead.

I finished my book about Japanese baseball, and it was interesting, but too repetitive. It claimed to be "revised," but all the author did was tack on a few chapters at the end. As an inside look at the culture of baseball in Japan, it was intriguing, but the author kept making the same points. While the Japanese use American ballplayers, they don't particularly like them or treat them well. The book cited several examples of US ballplayers who flamed out in Japan. It's not an easy place to play for US players.

Today I have my senior tech student, and will be installing a new phone for her. She's getting a new TV as well, but I don't think I have to install that. I'm also picking up a screen protector for her iPhone. Should be an interesting session. That's all that's scheduled anyway. I may take on the motor home winterization as well this morning.

'Til We Meet Again!
