I did not feel like getting out of bed this morning. The heat came on overnight, and the bed was pretty warm and cozy. It's still cold enough overnight to bring the heat on, even set at 62°.
Yesterday was a day I wouldn't call busy, but filled. I brewed a Keurig for myself because I had a 10AM appointment and I did not want to take the time to brew a whole pot of coffee. I wrote yesterday's post, took a shower, and was off for breakfast with a colleague who is officially retiring and just finished his final week on the job. We had breakfast and spent until about 12:30 PM talking. I was taken by surprise when I saw the place had filled up and people were ordering lunch. Time can go by so quickly with good conversation.
So I headed home, and then I spent some time trying to learn the various controls and ins and outs of the new EV. I took a couple of short drives just to check out how speed affects range. I tried out the climate control. I bought a new program that uses the OBD dongle to provide detailed information on the car's state of health overall. I connected my phone to the car's audio system. It's always fun finding the small details that make the car function. But disappointingly enough, my Sirius XM app continues its bad practice of automatically connecting and playing a station that I think is cached on the phone. I still can't find a solution to solve this problem, but at least I now know it's the software.
DW and I took off to do a vegetable and grocery pickup run. We got our weekly fresh vegetables from the coop garden, then off to Walmart to pick up our food order. We got into the habit of using Walmart for food shopping on line during the pandemic, and we are finding it a hard habit to break. The convenience and time-saving factors are too good to ignore. We used the EV, and DW asked a few questions. She asked where chargers are located in town, and it just so happened we were leaving Walmart, so I swung around and drove up to their chargers. There are also chargers at the state college in town. But we intend to charge at home as much as possible.
When we got back I could not keep my eyes open, so I took a 45-minute nap. Then we had dinner (chicken parm with pasta and zucchini), and I settled in for the ball game after putting the EV on the charger. The game was delayed by rain for two hours, so I didn't start watching it until about 9PM. In the meantime, I went down the internet rabbit hole looking for more EV information to confirm the wisdom of my purchase, as well as trying to find more information about the OBD program and how to read its charts and graphs. I continued to do a mixture of YouTube videos and web sites, but I did also watch an episode of Sidetrack Adventures and Asian Boss while the game was in delay. I got through 7 innings before I went to bed at about 12:15 AM. Like I said, not a busy day, but a full one. These are the kinds of days I enjoy.
