Yesterday was a day of exhaustion. Everything I went to had a tinge of fatigue. I know I slept poorly, having had my sleep broken up by urination pretty much on the hour until 3 AM.
I had to be up in time to have our handyman come over and look at our air conditioning situation. Water seemed to have seeped into the floor and into the flooring, warping a couple of boards. He came about 8:30 or, and we worked to clean out the weep hole on the AC unit. Then we reinstalled it and made sure it had enough slope. We found a small piece of roofing in the frame, so perhaps that was covering the hole. At any rate, I waited an hour and went outside to check the hole. Water seemed to be dripping fine out of the hole, so it seems OK. We won't know until the next heat wave I suppose.
I tried to get a little bit of a morning nap in after cleaning up. I didn't really sleep, but at least I took it easy. Then I drove to the project meeting.
It was a struggle yesterday. We were both having some difficulty putting together the most difficult pieces, and I was really tired by the end, probably too tired to do any good work. I've said before that I really shouldn't have taken on this project due to weakening abilities, but I didn't listen to my own advice and gut. Now I'm paying for it a bit. Things are not coming easy, and the project is not flowing well. We have but a week to bring it together, and while that is still possible, it's going to be a close call.
Unfortunately, when I got out of the session, I discovered that the usual charging station for my EV was out of order. Bad news, as it looked like I had not enough juice to get home. I called the number on the charging station, but they could not help either. Ultimately, after calling DW and consulting with her, I decided to try and make it back home using as little energy as possible. As I started out, I remembered that the local KOA was listed as having a charging station. I stopped there, but they wouldn't allow me to use it. I am not sure they even had one. So I continued on.
I set the cruise control at 45 MPH. When a car came up on me I put on my flashers and moved over so they could pass. Fortunately the road was pretty empty, so the ride was slow. I kept an eye on my Leafspy app, and long story short, I got home with about 13% state of charge according to the app. Just barely made it. I plugged it in for the night, grateful to have made it home. It looks like I will be taking the ICE car for the duration of the project, as I can't be sure when that charging station will come back on line.
Dinner was a leftover concoction of pasta with chicken and a salad. Then I watched the remainder of the ball game - another loss - while having a conversation with Daughter about the possibility of attending a weekend of Women's Pro Baseball in Springfield IL in August. I think we'll be going, and it should be a pretty good time if we do go. She's always been a baseball fan, and like a lot of girls she's probably always wanted to play or at least see other girls play hardball. So we'll see.
I also answered some questions from Son1 about the car I am giving him. He's hoping to get plates for the car today. I hope we've done all the paper work right. It it works out I should be riding out to switch cars with him on Sunday. After chatting with him, I cleaned the kitchen and went to bed around 11:02 PM.
This was not a good day altogether, and I am learning a lot of lessons about myself and my limitations. I really have to push through to see the end of this project, and I need to write somewhere exactly how tired and out of sorts I currently am, so that if anyone asks me to do a similar project with them, I will remember these feelings and learn how to say NO. I should have learned that a year ago.
