Hey There!

It's 7:56 AM EDT, 67°F, Humidity 71%, Wind 6 mph NW, sunny, AQI 34

Another bright morning. We haven't had much of the rain that was forecast, and sleeping temperatures have been very comfortable.

Yesterday began with my morning routine. As I was finishing up, DW proposed French toast and sausages for breakfast, which was fine by me. While she was cooking, I took the Venza down for state inspection. I had to move the Leaf to get to it, and it turned out that I had left the Leaf key with the shop and not the Venza key. So I had to go back and switch keys.

Daughter had messaged us late last night that her friend had gotten the day off she needed, and so she was making the final plans to get to Springfield IL for the Womens Professional Baseball League. I had to buy the tickets, and I had a lot of difficulty doing so because the ticket web site was highly unstable and not cooperative at all. I suspect that all the ad blockers and VPN I had running on my computer did not help it. It took close to an hour to finally make the final purchases of tickets. I had to buy front row seats so that DW would not have to climb up any stairs, so hopefully that all works out. I would have preferred to sit up a little higher for a slightly better view, but this will be fine.

After that, I went out to take a look at a car I was thinking of buying for Son1. It was a Hyundai Kona SEL, and it was a nice car. I took it for a short test. It was making a lot of tire noise, but a wheel bearing in the tire had just been changed, and new tires were on order, so I imagine that will go away. I chatted with Bob, from whom I've bought a few cars in the past. The business is not what it used to be. Auctions he used to go to that would pass 400-500 cars through four lanes now handle maybe 75 cars a session. That's a steep drop-off.

It was all for naught, though, because Son1 was not in the mood to buy a new car. He's a little touchy about these things, and he's happy with what he has. He's always been a little resistant to change, so we decided to let the car pass. Perhaps another time.

I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to figure out if I can buy a domain name from one provider and load website files on another. I think I can, and it wouldn't cost me too much to buy the domain, but I've been hesitating. It seems like lately I've been concerned about spending money. But this would only cost me $12, and I can't figure out why I am so hesitant to spend such a paltry amount. When I spend it on my kids (for example, this basebal trip is a gift to Daughter that will cost us about $1500), I don't feel so bad. But when I go to spend $12 on myself, I grimace. They say some retirees got so used to saving money that they can't spend it. I can spend for big things like winters in AZ, but not small things. Kind of an interesting psychological quirk I seem to have.

For dinner, I grilled a strip steak for myself while DW had a leftover chicken thigh shwarma-style. Steak is not her favorite food. We had both white and sweet potatoes as well as a salad, but neither of us could finish our salads. Too much food.

After dinner it was time for baseball, but I had enough time to watch the week's Sidetrack Adventure video on CA's least populated county. The ball game was an interesting one. The team scored 4 runs in the first inning, and didn't score again until the game went into extra innings tied 4-4. They went ahead 5-4, but one sloppy defensive play tied the score again. The home team finally scored in the bottom of the 12th and won 6-5. My team used almost every relief pitcher they had, so it's going to be interesting how the bullpen is managed over the next 4 days.

With extra innings, the game took me right to bedtime, which was 11:37 PM.

That's all for now. 'Til We Meet Again!
