Hey There! It's 9:21 AM MST, 55°F, partly cloudy

Yesterday was a day filled with a lot of small accomplishments. And one small accident.

I did my usual morning routine and have re-established my walking cycle. I do notice it takes a bit more time these days to get going, especially if I get up at or after 8 AM. I believe I need to look into my sleep cycle and see if I can move that to favor an earlier wakeup time. I've said that before, I know. At least I'm getting a solid 8 hours of sleep most nights.

I spent the morning getting a couple of tasks done. The first thing I did was get all the stuff from Amazon I bought that I am not going to use returned, so I completed the process on their web site. Then I washed (rinsed off, really) my CT 125. Then I installed the small tank bag I bought for it. I'm pretty sure I did a bad job of installing the bag, and I will have to look at it again later to check the install. But it's on the bike and holding up.

I then took my Zumo XT and my new power bank and set them up on the bike. The system seems to work well. I grabbed all the stuff I needed to return and rode the bike out to Staples for the returns. Nice and easy. Then I decided to fill up the bike with gas.

The accident occurred because the dispenser on the gas pump had a very sticky handle. My bike doesn't take much gas, so I have to be very careful about squeezing the handle. When the tank was full, however, I could not get the handle to release, and gas kept pouring out. I pulled the hose out of the tank with gas continuing to come out, trying to disengage the trigger. I think that finally happened when I dropped the handle and it hit the pavement. The force of hitting the pavement probably unlocked the trigger, and the gas finally stopped. The damage wasn't too bad, but there was gas around the pavement and on the bike. I sopped up the gas on the bike with paper towels, but there wasn't much I could do about the gas on the pavement. It will eventually evaporate, of course, but that's not the way you want to go about it. I didn't see an attendant, so I tried to wipe things down as best I could and then took off. Nothing to be done. I think I got a little gas on my pants, but I didn't smell completely of gas.

I decided a little ride was in order, so I took off for a few dirt roads in the local region. I rode for about 45 minutes here and there, scouting some trails for the next ride. When I got home, DW didn't complain about any gas smell, so I figured I was OK.

I took a nap, and I ended up snoring so loudly I woke myself up. Dinner was salmon with leftover sweet potatoes and a salad. In the evening I watched two videos - well, one I didn't exactly watch, just ran it double-speed to the end. It was a video from the guy I rode with last week. Watching his videos to the end, liking, and commenting are the ways I am paying him back for the work he did on my windshield. I also watched a Sidetrack Adventures video - that guy is very good. Then I listened to one Freakonomics podcast and one CBC podcast. Bedtime was around 11:10 PM.
