Hey There! It's 3:47 PM EDT, 64°F, sunny
I'm back home, and it feels great to be home, knowing I don't have to get in the car tomorrow to go anywhere, and that I have nothing to do tomorrow but unpack and kickstart life back home.
Since my last post, it's been nothing but driving. I've been sick with something of a chest cold the last couple of days, and the one day I had off in Lincoln I spent mostly coughing and trying to rest. Each day I got a little better, but it was a bit of a struggle to drive when you're coughing and blowing your nose so often.
DW got to meet up with an old friend and mentor in Lincoln and chatted with her for a few hours. But the routine was mostly the same: wake up, get dressed, have breakfast, pack, check out, drive, check in, unpack. search for someplace for dinner, go to sleep. That gets old very fast, and it sort of takes the fun out of driving. The thing is, once we hit Lincoln, it's essentially seeing the same sights from the road as the last trip. I think I may be out of options in terms of XC routes to take. I think by now the only state I haven't been to is Hawaii. Interstates 94, 90, 80, 70, 40, and 20 have all been mostly traversed.
We've unpacked a few things, gotten our mail, looked at some of the new updates our handyman had done over the winter (all very nice!), and restarted all the utilities. We are now spending the afternoon chilling after a little bit of lunch, and we're looking forward to sleeping in our own bed tonight.
Tomorrow I will once again begin to make and everyday entry here. I imagine returning to my usual routines will be slow in coming together, but I will give it all the time it needs to come together. I look forward to slowing down and taking it easy at home for the next couple of weeks, anyway.
