Hey There!
It's 8:28 AM EDT, 71°F, Humidity 92%, Wind 5 mph SW, overcast
Yesterday was a day where some things got accomplished, and some didn't. I have been trying to take my tasks in small bites, but sometimes, at the end of the day, the bites seem too small.
After my morning routine, I decided to get right onto the dirt pile. This time, I got a little smarter and pulled out my hand cart. The wheels don't hold air all that much, but I figured I could just keep filling them with air if need be. I got the tires filled, and then went about shoveling. I found the tarp underneath this whole pile, so now I have an outline of the original pile. I managed to move 5 buckets of dirt. That's not a lot, but it's better than nothing. The pile looks a little smaller now, and that's a good feeling, but it also looks bigger than I want it to look, which is disappointing. I have to keep reminding myself that a little bit at a time will get it done. "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step" kind of thinking remains key.
Then I took the extension cords for my solar panel and installed them. I broke a tool that's supposed to make it easy to uncouple the connections, so I got a small pair of pliers from a mini multitool I have to finish the job. I plugged in a small power station, and it began charging up, so a success there. Then I brought out a bigger power station which was down to 57%, but the 7-in-1 adapter only had a connection for the smaller charging port. I managed to find the adapter for the larger inputs, but had to connect them directly by disconnecting the adapter. Unfortunately, the sun was not shining by this time, so not much solar to be had. I have to check on a sunnier day to see if I am getting enough solar from the panel. Today doesn't look like that day, at least not right now.
I paid the hospital bill for my colonoscopy, which was $26.13. Good insurance. Then I spent the afternoon trying to rest up a bit, just roaming around the internet. I looked at some SSD enclosures, some baseball news, and I booked a room for our upcoming trip to visit Son2 in two weeks. He's having relationship issues, and DW has decided he needs to have his house cleaned, which I think is a physical metaphor for re-setting his life at the moment. All this time I had the baseball game on the radio in the background, but with the bad loss that followed, I only got to the 8th inning.
Dinner was some whitefish in a lemon butter garlic sauce, with a side of rice and some cut veggies. After dinner it was time for the highlight of the day, the WPBL playoff game between the NY Heights and the LA Queens. It was quite a tight and tense game as these games go, but the Heights managed to beat the Queens 9-7, and force a Game 3. The excitement really comes from the players' inconsistent play, because you never really know what's going to happen. 5-run leads are no guarantee of anything in this league. So the stakes are always high and you can't relax.
After the game, I checked in on some baggage and travel gear on YouTube. This is another of those instances where I enjoy looking at the products, but do so in the knowledge that, no matter how much I want one, I don't need one. That's the stage of life I'm in right now: I would like to think I'll be a world traveler, but the reality is that's not going to happen. But the gear is all fascinating. I spent too much time doing this and overshot my bedtime, so I cleaned the kitchen and got to bed around 11:45 PM.
That's all for now. 'Til We Meet Again!
