Yesterday was sort of an easy day. I had a couple of scheduled things to do, and that usually makes the day go smoothly. I lived on schedules all my working career, and somehow it seems things feel more smooth when I have a schedule of things to accomplish. One thing I kept returning to throughout the day was handling the spam from my Facebook listing. Such a drag.
The day really didn't get going until noon. I felt like I spent most of the morning killing time. I should have been more productive, handling at least something like pulling thorn weeds from my neighbor's side yard. DW was in the mood to make breakfast, so ham and scrambled eggs and a bagel were on the menu. Then I washed up and changed into my ushering uniform. I came down, and I know I watched at least one video, maybe two?
The afternoon I spent at the performing arts center ushering the opera. It's an easy gig, as not too many people come to hear the opera, and this was a Met premiere. The opera did not completely work for me. The attempt to create a surrealistic musical atmosphere all the way through led to slow storytelling and a very ponderous experience. It was a long afternoon.
When I got back home I changed my clothes, had a hot dog for a late lunch, and then took off to Big City to buy a used ebike for my DIL's daughter. It's a cheap bike, but it works. It was in a sketchy part of town, but the guy selling the bike was nice. He went through all the items the bike had, showed me how to fold it and take out the battery. The bike even came with an alarm. It is hideously painted, but I can spray paint the bike if I like. He hauled it over and put it in my trunk, so all in all a good deal. At the price I paid it should last for awhile. You never know with used items.
When I got back home DW had made us salads, and I had the leftover pasta with meatsauce while she had some cream of asparagus soup she made. I hate asparagus; the taste and smell just make me ill. Then, since the ballgame was a late night West Coast affair, I sat down and wrote a post for my public blog. Then I spent the rest of the evening watching videos from the Asian Boss channel. His latest "deep dive" was on Chinese ecommerce platforms, and was very interesting. Then I went back a bit and watched earlier videos from the channel interviewing Japanese people on topics like lonliness, the importance of keeping up with world affairs, and the declining population in Japan. Again, interesting stuff to listen to. After cleaning up the kitchen, bedtime was about 11:10 PM.
