Hey There! It's 8:15 AM EDT, 56°F, Wind 19 mph S, overcast

Yesterday was one of those nasty rainy days, so we spent the entire day chilling in the house. I got up and made a double pot of coffee and went through my morning routine. No walking in the rain.

I think everyone (DW, Son2, GF) was awake and downstairs by around 9:30 AM, so we set about making breakfast. There were breakfast sandwiches and potato pancakes served up. Unfortunately my son seemed to have injured his back, as it gave him some trouble all day. All through the day he spent some time trying to stretch it out in one way or another.

There truly isn't much to write about. We chatted and chilled and hung out. Nobody seemed particularly motivated to do much more. Son2 and GF brought laundry (why do adult children always bring laundry?), so they passed the time on occasion putting in new loads and folding finished loads. I did take a look at one of my Linux boxes to check on the "apt repository corrupt" situation, and tried something else. I am researching to see how to do a fresh install of Mint Zena 22, but it looks like I'd have to back up files and all that to do so. The problem is nagging and not severe, so I am leaving it alone for now.

DW and GF went into the kitchen to make peanut butter balls, and so I took the opportunity to sound out Son2 about his side business and what he intends to do going forward. I have been thinking a lot about what comes next for DW and I as we age, and more and more it's looking like a move to Son2's city is the best solution. I floated with him the idea of us renting an apartment as sort of a transitional phase while keeping the house here, and he wasn't opposed to the idea. That way I can travel to his city and help with his business part-time across six-week sessions without worrying about where I'd stay, and I could bring DW along as well. We could acclimate to apartment/condo life with an eye towards eventually moving full time. He is looking for a building that can serve both for his business and his living situation. If I spent six weeks in the city, I could take pressure off his schedule by handling weekends, and that would give him a bit more free time. Handling his full-time job alongside his side business is beginning to wear on him, so I think this idea had legs in terms of taking pressure off him, while at the same time giving me something to do, and letting the both of us transition to what eventually is going to happen anyway.

In the late afternoon we played a couple of rounds of Scatagories, and it was a good time. Then we had a dinner of chicken schwarma, which is one of Son2's favorite meals. After dinner the kids packed up and headed home. I felt they had barely stayed, and I wish they could have stayed overnight and left this morning.

DW and I had settled in for the evening when Son2 texted us and asked if we had seen his keys. He left here thinking he had left his keys back at GF's house, but when they got there the keys were not immediately in sight. So DW and I went on a search for the keys, which we did not find. He finally texted us and said he found them in between the seats in GF's car. So I went back to my videos and DW went back to her TV shows, and by 11:07 we were both in bed. Even with the rainy weather, it turned out to be a satisfying day.

'Til We Meet Again!
