It's pleasant and quiet enough on this Sunday morning to be able to sit on the porch with my coffee and muffin. I also have the day off from the project. I am hoping for a nice, relaxing day. Looks like a heat wave will be arriving soon.
Yesterday wasn't too terrible. After my morning routine, it was 10:15 AM by the time I was ready to get going. My first errand was to the auto parts store, where I bought what is essentially a stink bomb to fumigate the Venza with. Once I got the deodorizer home, the process took about 30 minutes to complete: 15 minutes for the actual bomb to release its contents into the car, and another 15 minutes for the car to air out. I also took some Febreeze into the car and sprayed the head liner, something DW did not do when she cleaned out the car.
Simultaneously, I took Son2'c computer from behind the TV and brought it into my downstairs study. After hooking it all up, I began to update things. On this machine, for some reason, it was completely up to date, and I guess that's because I always left it sleeping when behand the TV. So it didn't seem to need much in the way of Windoze upgrades. I then installed the Zoom software, and to my surprise the camera came up with no problem and no additional software to install. In short, everything seemed ready to go. And I must say this machine is the fastest of all the little miniPCs I have scattered about the house. My final step was to see if Mint Linux could be installed alongside Windoze, and yes, it could!. But I was running out of time, so I decided to do that after the project meeting.
Today's session went a fair bit better, but the root problems remain. The female lead still can't walk and chew gum at the same time, but I helped her choreograph the final section of the outline so she had less thinking to do. We are slowly putting the pieces together, and she is still slow, but at least I can see some improvement. I have to score yesterday a mild success in terms of advancing the project.
I got home around 5:30 PM and took a load off on the couch while DW prepared a representation of Philly cheesesteaks for dinner with the leftover steak. The facsimile was tasty, but I think I should have added A-1 sauce to it. The sub was accompanied by a salad.
After dinner I took in the condensed version of the ballgame played that afternoon, and we lost. Not doing well at the moment. With no other game to watch (I am not really following the World Cup out of disgust with FIFA), I tuned in the Major League Cricket match between New York and Los Angeles from the Oakland Coliseum. MINY blew away the LA Knight Riders winning by 44 runs. Then after that match I stayed for one inning of the AUSL softball game between Portland and Texas. One inning of that was enough for me. I am looking forward to seeing some games played by the new professional women's baseball league, which will debut in August.
I went into the kitchen to have a pie of apple crumb pie and then clean the kitchen up. I decided to install Mint Linux onto the PC, and everything went off without a hitch. Mint Linux seemed to be able to handle the webcam, so I installed Audacity, 4K Video Downloader, and Zoom onto it, and everything worked! This means I can now produce my podcast completely on Linux if I want to. This is actually great, and gave me a feeling of accomplishment as I continue to move away from Big Tech. This frees me from the Apple walled garden. It will be a few weeks before I can test all this, but for now, I'm quite excited that I can make all this happen with Linux.
I set up a few more pieces of software before calling it a night at 11:27 PM.
