I have now completed writing for 6 months in this blog nearly - not quite - every day. That is a bit amazing to me. There is nothing here of any critical note, just a recording of what the events of the day were. Has it made me a better writer? Not sure. But it has kept me focused on a project that I can do every day and keep my mind maybe a little sharper.
Yesterday was another rather ordinary day. Morning rituals, and then a series of small tasks. One thing I managed to accomplish is to get the Honda CT 125 out for a spin. I thought I was going to try to get the windshield installed, but upon unpacking it, there were no directions. I was surprised, but when I went to do some research, I discovered this is the case for the product - no one gets instructions. I did find a very good Youtube video showing how to install it, but I don't think I have the tools, the space, or the expertise to do it. It would be, for me, something that might take an entire afternoon, whereas for someone with skills, it might take 30 minutes.
Then the idea hit me to see if I could get in touch with a local Youtuber who makes CT125 content. He had an email, so I asked if I could hire him to install the windshield. He agreed. Tomorrow at 2PM. These days I am willing to pay for expertise rather than endure the frustration of my own incompetence. I prefer not to waste the time, as it's more valuable than the money. And I might get a riding partner out of it - who knows?
I checked out a few more Youtube videos with CT 125 content. I watched one which showed how to change a flat tire. That's something I hope never happens to me on the trail. While I understand the process, I have to question whether or not I have the strength to do that if I were to get a flat in the desert. I decided it was important to activate my Garmin 66i's ability to use Garmin inReach Messenger, so I paid for the cheapest plan (plus the initial activation fee) and got it started. It wasn't the simplest of processes, and Garmin is always trying to upsell everything, but eventually I got it done, Now, when I go out in remote places, I can send a message even though I may not have cell service. I have been meaning to do this for some time, and I'm glad I got it done.
DW made a nice tomato sauce with sausage and fried zucchini for dinner. After dinner I spent the evening with some more video content for the 125. Bedtime was 11 PM.
