Hey There! It's 9:08 AM EST, 23°F, mostly cloudy.

Today is the Winter Solstice in the northern hemisphere. From here on in the days get longer. There is a sense of peace and hope that comes with that thought.

Yesterday was another not-exceptionally busy day, which are the kinds of days I prefer. In the morning I spent 30 minutes on the despised treadmill. After breakfast we called Son1 for his birthday, as is the family tradition. He was planning to have an open house for anyone to drop in and spend some time playing board games and eating. He is a board game fanatic. We offered to pay for a couple of pizzas to add to the birthday feast.

Then, after breakfast, I set about reading projects. I read another 25 of them. My printer is dying, but fortunately the black nozzle and the scanning feature continues to work. By the time I had finished reading what remained on my pile and sending them in, it was about 5:00pm. In some instances it was a slog, but there is always that moment of satisfaction when you complete the task and it's not hanging over your head.

In the evening after dinner (cod and tuna noodle casserole with broccoli), I decided to do some research on visiting Japan, which I plan to do in late March/early April. One of my brothers and a contingent of his family are joining the trip, as well as one of his old friends. There is a conference Zoom call today to discuss the plans, so I figured I should have my shit together at least somewhat. There is a YouTube channel called Abroad in Japan which features a lot of info about life in Japan and traveling there, so I used that as a jumping-off point to grab some information. The research took up the rest of the evening. Bedtime about 11PM.

Plans for today include football, and perhaps a purging of the back room. We have a few days left before 7 Fishes, and after Christmas comes the push to AZ. Wish me luck and good weather for traveling.

'Til We Meet Again!
