Hey There! It's 8:58 AM, 44°F, sunny
Well, getting a good morning start this morning. It looks to be a nice day, and hopefully nice enough that I can get the car completely unpacked. There's not much left in it, but a few things do remain. I've unpacked my travel suitcase, but the larger suitcase still remains messily packed.
I really slept in yesterday. My body seems to be trying to make up for all the early mornings and lack of sleep and daily stresses I've been experiencing for the past month. It's sort of amazing to me how the body can do that. DW says she has been getting up earlier because she's getting more sleep during the nights now. Adjusting to a slower routine has its benefits.
I had breakfast, and then DW hijacked my morning to discuss buying beef and pork in bulk. We settled on a beef package, and decided to take a drive to a butcher in the county who does pork. I am going to contact the woman who's been selling chickens to us this coming week. Our freezer is completely empty, and we like to purchase local meat whenever we can and stock up on it. Trying to compare prices, however, is very difficult, and meat is expensive these days. But we worked it out.
Then our handyman came over to return the house key he'd been using to get into the house over the winter. We chatted a bit and thanked him for his work. We have one more room to do upstairs, taking down the old paneling and seeing what's behind that and finishing it up. There's probably a few little odds and ends left as well. We want to carpet the stairs going to the second floor, as it's cheaper than re-finishing all those stairs.
Then I took a shower - first shower in my own bathroom since returning. Man, it felt good! I got dressed, unpacked my travel suitcase, and then set about updating all the computers I have upstairs. My one Windoze machine took 3 hours to update. The Linux partition in the same machine took less than 30 minutes to update. A third old Dell laptop took less than an hour. Guess which operating system I like better?
Dinner was some pasta with bolognese sauce that we had in the freezer and thawed out. My poor wife is dealing with an older sister who refuses to go to an assisted living facility despite not being able anymore to live alone in her house. It's causing a lot of stress for her. My SIL has never been the brightest bulb in the chandelier, so it's been hard. Her daughter is not exactly easy to deal with either, so it's a daily struggle. I listened to a ball game in the evening, a couple of videos later in the evening, then bed around 11:30 PM. Getting back to a bit of a normal routine.
'Til We Meet Again!
