Yesterday after my morning routine, it was a day to get the lawn cut at the camp site. Not that I've been putting it off, but the vagueries of calendar didn't give me a window until yesterday morning. So, once I had breakfast (fried eggs, hash browns and toast thanks to DW), I was off to cut the lawn.
I had to stop to get gas, which I did at the local Native American reservation. Even there, gas is up to $4.19, with diesel at $6.00. I'm pretty glad my lifestyle doesn't require a lot of driving anymore. After getting the tank filled, I drove to the camp site. I didn't get there until about 11:15 AM or so. I made one stop at a Dollar General to look for ear protection, but didn't find any.
The mower started up nicely and I got the land mowed. Some sections were pretty thick, but not as wet as the last time. It takes about 90 minutes or so to mow the area I've cut out. No major issues other than I still haven't removed that tree in front of the motor home that fell last winter.
I did a couple of other small tasks, one being getting the battery box set up. This time I used the 10A solar connection for charging, and that seemed to work fine. I turned on the refrigerator and two fans, no problem. I would like to go up today and check the situation out again to see if it ran OK for 24 hours unattended.
I also staked out the new 100W solar panel for the house battery on the motorhome. That also seemed to be working well. So hopefully I've solved the two issues I had with the equipment I possess, no new stuff to buy. That would be awesome.
When I came home I threw a couple of getaway ideas past DW. We settled on heading close to a state park in PA for a few days, staying in a motel and touring the countryside. I think I am going to strap my Honda 125 and maybe ride a trail or two while we're out there.
I listened to the first game of a doubleheader, in which the team got spanked 10-2. I think they are definitely in reserve mode, saving people for the playoffs and experimenting with positioning. I sat outside for a bit but the sun is right there by the west wall of the screen house, and it gets hot on the face. Dinner was the leftover chicken schwarma with rice and some summer squash.
After dinner we watched our two shows, Ted Lasso and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Neither episode was terrific. I turned on the nightcap after that, which we won 6-3, so a split. Then I watched a couple of videos, thinking about how to create a single box to take camping, some kind of minimalist approach. I saw a couple of videos on the Ozark Trail A-Frame tent, and it's very nostalgic, and I want it, and It's cheap. But I don't need it, so I am actively resisting buying it. It's like $80 or some ridiculous price like that, which makes it an easy impulse buy, but again, don't need it. Not buying it. Don't need it.
I cleaned up the kitchen right after watching the shows when we took a grape pie break, so all I had to do was set the mouse trap before bed (caught #3!). Bedtime was 11:15 PM.
