Yesterday was a road trip day, and it turned out to be a delightful day on the road. After an abbreviated morning routine, I did an interview with someone out on the west coast, so they were up at 7 AM on their end. They interview went well, as the guest was very chatty, which always makes my job a little easier. After that, I had to go out and do the "car dance," moving all the cars around to get them lined up in the right order in the driveway. I then packed the car with the things I was going to need for the road trip, and I took off.
My first stop was a gas station. I am fortunate to live close to a Native American reservation, which does not charge state tax on gasoline. However, they seem to have reduced or dropped their loyalty program, so my discount seems to have disappeared. At $4.17 the price is still pretty high, but not as high as stations where I have to pay tax.
My next stop was at a Goodwill store, where I dropped off all the computers i worked on to get them cleaned up and ready for donation. That was really a relief. No issues just handing the computers over to the attendant. Very sweet.
Then it was off to the audiologist appointment in Son2's city. I arrived quite early because I had left time for getting gas and dropping the computers off, so I had a slice of pizza at the pizza place next store to kill time.
The audiologist session went fine. She made some adjustments for me, added a program for my phone and mic while taking off the comfort program (it can only hold four pre-sets), and giving me slightly smaller cones. While I was in there I got a message from Son2 to buy some Reese's Pieces from the store for his GF, who works as a receptionist at the audiologist. So i ran that errand after my appointment was over, and got some M&M Peanut Butter pieces for me.
I drove down to Son2's work establishment to drop off a few things for him as well: some mail, a minicomputer he had here, and some food from his mother. I didn't stay long, as he was "slammed" and didn't have the time to really talk. He forgot the Mac M1 he was going to give me, but I think he may have changed his mind on that, as he does do video editing on it. He mentioned he might be taking on another teacher who is up from NYC and trying to adjust to upstate life. I told him tread slowly. No news on the house-buying front.
I decided to take a scenic route on the way home to avoid Friday city traffic and weekend traffic on the interstate. It was a great decision, as the day was lovely and the ride quiet and serene. Everything is still green, but you can tell by the slant of the sun that fall is just about here. I added about 30 minutes to the travel time, but it was worth it.
When I got home DW started dinner - a pizza. I didn't tell her I had had a slice of pizza for lunch, and I sort of knew she was going to make pizza, so Iate a lot of pizza yesterday. Hers was OK, not her best effort. I think the Rao sauce she used was awful, but the rest was fine. I had a small glass of wine with the pizza.
After dinner we watched Ted Lasso and Start Trek: Strange New Worlds. Neither episode was interesting. Ted Lasso continues to focus on character relationships and romances, while Star Trek has really become enthralled with gimmick episodes. Ugh.
After those shows, I believe I wasted the rest of the evening with YouTube videos. I am continuing to think about my solar situation, so I checked out a couple of power station videos. However, I didn't last too long at that, as I was tired from the driving. So I got up the energy to clean the kitchen and went to bed at 10:45 PM. Not a terrible day.
