Well, Son1 and his family have left to visit his MIL. It was, as usual, a hectic but fun visit. All the cooking and cleaning up make it a lot of work, but the visiting and watching movies and all made it a nice visiting time. Board games were played as well. Not too much drama!
Usually I dread these visits, because the house becomes so hectic, and I am used to the quiet of the house. But after a while you get used to it, and even come to like it. DW is always thrilled to have a child visit, but she does get a little too carried away with her "mom" genes going crazy. She does overparent at times, and I can tell Son1 can get a little irritated with this. But it's all fine in the end.
I took my DIL's daughter out with the ebike I gave her. I wasn't using it much, as I mostly ride my Honda. I am sure she will love the independence. She is not the most adept rider at the moment, but practice will make perfect over time. I just hope she stays on the right when she rides. I printed out the manual for them and gave them basic instructions on how to operate the bike. I can only hope they take care of it and don't lose anything.
The weather turned out to be no big deal. The snow was minimal, and even though it was cold and windy, we weren't buried in snow. No need to drag the snow thrower out. Right now it looks like late March out there. Meteorological winter begins Monday, and so does thinking about heading SW for the winter.
The rest of today will be a "rest and recuperate" kind of day. DW has already announced she's not cooking dinner, at which I laughed. I might have a little egg nog with Bailey's, watch some cricket, and call it good. There may even be a cookie or two eaten!
