Hey There! It's 8:48 AM EST

Yesterday was one of those days that turns busy in spite of itself. I started out writing emails to people to schedule interviews for my next podcast, but I fear I may have waited too long. I heard back from two groups, and did manage to schedule one. I hope the others will get back to me on Monday.

Then I made the trip to Walmart to secure a new land line phone for my senior tech student. I wanted to get one off the shelf, so I grabbed the only one that was there that was a desktop model. The screen is not as bright as I had hoped, but I did order another one that will come today. It has an additional handset, so once I get that installed I will bring the other one back to Walmart. The extra handset will keep her from rushing to answer the desk unit. I was hoping to get one that announced the phone number, but no luck. Once I bought it, I brought it over to her house and installed it. That took about an hour. I also taught her how to get her voicemails. I hope this new system I've developed will make getting calls easier for her.

DW entertained two guests yesterday as well. One was an old colleague who used to work in her office, and the other was a couple on their way to Florida who had borrowed our second car for a short period while their car was being packed up and shipped off. I saw the first visitor but not the second, as I got back from phone installation duty just a bit after they left.

I think after that I took a nap. Late in the afternoon we received a text message from our AZ AirBnB host that he had to cancel our reservation due to a personal emergency of some sort. So all of a sudden we had no place to go for the winter. DW and I swung into action, and managed to book a place almost right away, which we were surprised at. It seems a bit smaller, but there are two bedrooms, one with a king sized bed, and a kitchen and living room. Seems like a small but doable place for two months. And we actually will be saving money over last year. A piece of luck for sure. Once we booked it, we went out to dinner. DW had a fish sandwich and I had "surf and turf," which in this place was a half-rack of ribs and maybe five walleye fillets, along with three sides (FF, cole slaw and mac-and-cheese). Not bad - a LOT of food for the price. I brought home the mac-and-cheese.

I spent the evening watching AUS-IND in a T20 cricket match. AUS won by 4 wickets, There were a lot of new faces on the Australian side. David Warner, one of the first Australian cricket stars I ever saw play, is now in the commentary box. India also has new faces, as I believe Virat Kohli is slowly inching towards retirement. I guess I have reached a point where I've been watching long enough to see some established stars retire. The Women's Big Bash Tournament is on in Australia, so now I have to check out and see where the major women stars are at.

Today is my last class for Son2. I had fun, but I'll be glad for the obligation to be off my calendar. 4-hour round trip, 3-hour class.

Notable deaths: Elizabeth Franz, Tony Award-winning actress, 84.
