Hey There! It's 8:04 AM EDT, 50F, W 13 mph from NE, sunny
Yesterday was a day I feel like I got more accomplished, but it really wasn't a whole lot. One step, one thing at a time.
While I was out for my morning walk the exterminator came and went. DW had to take care of it. He sprayed the permimeter of the house, and then apparently he sprayed underneath the porch. I hope he was successful - not any flies out there this morning. But the usual collection of carpenter ants are beginning to become active in my neighbor's house. They do not have the money to do anything about it. When I got home DW brought me up to speed on the exterminator as well as the neighbor. Seems that he fell in his house and broke his hip. We saw the ambulance come and take him to the hospital a week ago. I think they went ahead and bought things for him to sleep downstairs. He was only a day in the hospital, and I don't know what the recovery time is for these things. We're glad it was only a broken hip.
After breakfast I decided to go up to the getaway and mow the lawn. I thought I would try the EV to get up there, so I packed in the gear and took off. I knew I didn't have a full charge, but I thought I could make it round trip with what I had. Well, I got close, but the amount left dropped a lot faster than I thought, so I turned around short of my goal and went back home to get the gas car. A slight defeat, as I am pretty sure I can do a round trip with a full charge. But lesson learned - keep the car fully charged as often as possible.
The mowing went well. As I've mentioned before, I like mowing when the mower gives me no trouble. I knocked down a section of road frontage further south along the road for a second access point, as well as mowing the path to the main trail. It was still a little muddy, but I didn't get stuck in the mud anywhere. While I was mowing towards the trail, a small baby deer with no spots jumped out of the field and scampered into the woods. I think they like to nest in the fields overnight. My neighbor is not, I think, going to mow the fields down like his predecessor. So I may have unmowed fields this season. I like the buttercups springing up. I forgot to mention yesterday that on Thursday I brought my drone over to the city park to test it, and it's still serviceable. I should bring it up to the campsite and get some arial pictures of those buttercups.
When I came home I started filling the time with this and that. Nothing of note. I was actually waiting for a phone call to tell me my car was repaired, but I had to call at 4:30 to find out that they were dealing with another emergency and while they have the parts, they took care of the emergency instead. So I went down to the mechanic's and got the car back for the weekend. I know I spent some time swatting Facebook flies from my scooter sale. I also think I spend much too much time drooling over things I want but shouldn't buy at this stage. I am trying to declutter, not get more stuff. And I had a chat with SOn2 about his new car, as well as the definition of "rich." He's a bit stressed about the purchase, as it's the biggest one he's ever made. Times are hard for young people today trying to live what I see as a normal middle-class life. I think we will never again see the kind of economic conditions I experienced in my life.
Dinner was a meatsauce and past with a salad - I love meatsauce! Then I went upstairs to shower and head to the performing arts center for an ushering gig. The band was OK, standard rock band fare. Solid, but not unique.
I got home to catch a few innings of the west coast ball game, but did not stay up for the whole game. They were well ahead by the time bedtime came around, which was 10:50 PM.
'Til We Meet Again!
