Hey There! It's 8:44 AM EDT, 39°F, mostly cloudy
Man, it's cold outside! We're expected to get up to a whopping 47°F today, and more rain is in the forecast. I'll never get my campsite lawn cut at this rate.
Yesterday I started off the morning OK, but was halted from walking as rain began to fall. I know that I should learn to walk in inclement weather, but the thought doesn't thrill me. I do have a treadmill, but just before we left for AZ the belt went out of alignment, and I have yet to re-align it. I'll have to put that on the to-do list.
I continued yesterday to refine and re-examine my computer use. I have too many computers, and I need to figure out what to do with them. Selling them is a pain, as I hate Marketplace and Craigslist, and really don't trust either. I would gladly give them away, but they have Linux on them, and there's not much call for Linux from average people. I've settled on my Windoze/Linux split drive for downstairs, and I went upstairs to see what I could do with the Windoze/Zorin box. It still doesn't print on the Zorin side. I can either be content with Zorin not printing and use another machine for those instances, or replace Zorin with Mint, which would entail a good amount of backing up files. I don't need to make a decision right away, so I'll put it off for a bit. And I still have a Dell 17" laptop running Mint to deal with. I feel boxed in a corner to the point where just throwing everything into the electronic recycling box at the transfer station is the right move.
I did an interview with a podcast guest, and right after than interview was over, I got a call from Son1's wife's daughter telling me the ebike I gave her at Thanksgiving was stolen because she lent it to a friend who didn't lock it up. The friend I guess needed temporary transportation of some sort. This is the second ebike that has been stolen from her. I'm probably going to have to replace it, but she also said the police needed pictures and I had to get them to her within the hour because everyone was leaving town for something that afternoon. So I plugged in my backup drive, dug out pictures of the bike from 2019, and sent them via text message. I just made the deadline for the pictures, but I could not find any sort of receipt for the bike, so I just told her how much I paid for it in 2019. Hopefully the police will buy the information. I doubt they will find the bike.
In the afternoon I began a post for my public blog outlining my trip to Japan. I wish I had taken better notes of the names of the places I visited. I have the pictures, and now trying to remember which picture was of which temple/shrine is challenging. I'm using a combination of the pictures and Google Maps to remember where I went. A simple daily journal would have solved that problem. Noted for the next trip I take.
Dinner was early (salmon, potatoes, salad) because I had to get the local performing arts center for my first ushering assignment since returning. The show was two comics who were minor stars from TV shows. One guy was pretty bad, and the other guy was OK, but I'm glad I didn't pay for the show.
I got home around 9PM and settled in for a few videos. It seems YouTube is filling my time lately, and I should be reading more and watching less videos. But reading has become slightly uncomfortable, as finding a good sitting position can sometimes be challenging. But I have to make a better effort. I don't watch junk videos, but for the most part I feel like I am just killing time. Bedtime was 11:12PM. I have sleeping quite well since coming back home, and last night I had an uninterrupted 7 hours of sleep. Getting up only once in the night is always a win.
'Til We Meet Again!
