Happy Independence Day to those who celebrate. I'm not much for patriotic jingoism.
Yesterday was a quiet day, and I decided to take the whole day off. Heat advisories were out, so I spent the day indoors staying cool. After my morning routine, I spent some time in the morning on my public blog, writing a post, replying here and there, and posting a video. Then I read a couple of other blog posts, and did some research for my rotisserie team, trying to find a replacement player. Thin pickings.
I also decided to switch up laptops, bringing the Linux laptop downstairs and putting the Macbook M2 in the back office. I think it's better if I do my surfing on a Linux machine, and I had gotten away from the Air Linux. I'm back on it now, and it feels OK.
The afternoon was spent in similar fashion. DW and I took a few minutes to discuss where we might go this winter, considering the costs and such. I found another place that looks nice in the same neighborhood we like, but it's a little bit more money. We also discussed whether to go or not at all, or if staying somewhere in the South is a better option because of the lesser travel. It's really tough to know. I do like it out there, and once we get out there I settle in quickly, but it's work to get there and get back. Maybe I am just getting lazy.
I watched the latter half of the AUS/EGY World Cup match, which Egypt won in a penalty kick shootout. I'm not much of a soccer fan, but it passed the time. That took me just about to dinner. I grilled 6 chicken thighs and we cut up some carrots and cucumbers. DW made an Annie's Mac&Cheese, and we had a pretty good dinner for ourselves.
Then I settled in for the baseball game. We finally won a game, which had a bit of a rain delay, taking the game all the way to bedtime. I cleaned the kitchen up during the delay, so I was able to get to bed by 10:50 PM. Nothing at all to write home about yesterday; just a calm, quiet, easy day staying out of the heat.
