Hey There! It's8:16 AM MST, 39°F, sunny
Yesterday was something of an active day. I performed my morning coffee ritual, answered an email, and skimmed the headlines. I sent my aunt a birthday text, as did DW. It turned out that DW sent her a birthday card, but in her diligence to make sure the card went out on time, forgot to write anything inside the card - it was blank. Funny, yes - but also a tale of caution.
I bought Daughter a box of chocolates for Valentine's Day, but in my attempt to pay for it somehow managed to check the box for faster delivery, and not standard delivery. Another $4, and the chocolates will arrive well before Valentine's Day. Not ideal, but I think she will like it nonetheless.
I decided to take a ride to the municipal transfer station (i.e. the dump) to see how to get rid of the lawn chair. No residency restrictions. Apparently they weigh your car in, you dump your garbage, and they weigh your car out. $5 per ton is the going rate. A lawn chair and some cardboard should amount to nothing.
I wanted to find a park or someplace different to walk, so I went park exploring later in the morning after the dump. The first park I came to was in a rundown section of the city. It was small, like a pocket park, and not ideal for walking. The next park I tried to access was blocked off by some kind of construction, and I did not want to bother trying to figure out how to get around the detours.
The third park was a bigger park, one with a paved loop, so I walked there. Three times around the loop equaled about a mile. I managed to get my 1.5 miles, but it wasn't what I would call pleasant. There was a young boy on a scooter zipping around the loop, and he came a little too close to me for comfort from behind on one pass. No trees to speak of. And the park is situated right alongside one of the major state highways running through the city, so it was noisy. I think walking the neighborhood, despite the ever-barking dogs, is my best bet. It's actually the most scenic, and the quietest.
After my walk I went and got a Sonoran hot dog and a lemonade/ice tea drink. Two hot dogs wrapped in bacon in one bun with pinto beans on top, and a whole bunch of whatever toppings you'd want. It's a mess. I found another pocket park to eat it in. There was a real beat-up car sitting in the park for no reason, it seemed to me. Then I cruised the city a bit looking at neighborhoods. Like any city, some parts are run down and some are gorgeous. Lots of single-wide mobile homes here.
I got back in the afternoon and took a nap. When I woke up, DW was trying to get a Wal Mart list together for shopping. But it seems that, every time we change location, Wal Mart goes bananas and refuses to take an order. So I had to futz with the computer and find a way to log in and accept our new location. It's probably related to all the ad blockers and location blockers we use. I think I need to use one browser that has no blocking extensions to circumvent this issue.
Dinner was a pork loin with potatoes and a salad. The we watched two episodes of Wonder Man. I ilke this series. Ben Kingsley is good, as is the guy playing Wonder Man (can't remember his long name). But we seem to get commercials with Disney+ - brings me back to the days of 4 channels and antennas. At least we didn't have to pay for the TV back then.
I passed the time with some videos on my favorite subjects before heading to bed at 11PM.
Notable deaths - Catherine O'Hara, actress, 71.
