Hey There!

It's 8:04 AM EDT, 56°F, Humidity 71%, Wind 2 mph NE, sunny

It's Labor Day in the US, the traditional end of summer. It looks like summer weather will be sticking around a little longer, but these brisk mornings let you know there is not much more of summer left.

Yesterday I went through my morning routine, and DW made some French toast and bacon for breakfast. I called it a "Sunday" breakfast because of the sweetness of it all, what with butter and yogurt and maple syrup and all on the French toast. Sweet things like that always feel like a treat.

I started out the day tinkering with my public blog and making a few cosmetic changes. But I have been thinking lately of changing sites. The site I use for this blog is so simple and attractive, with nothing to get in the way of your writing, but for the public blog I wonder if it's too simple. It's not that my public blog is popular or anything; I suspect few people actually read it. But I really wonder if I need all its features. So I went looking at a couple of possible services and sites to run a more simple blog. I have until November to make a decision, so we'll see how it goes.

Believe it or not, my searching and experimentation and tweaks took me into the afternoon, when I then decided to get my podcast in the can. I figured I had nothing more to do, nothing planned, so why not? And that's how I spent the rest of the afternoon, editing and preparing my podcast. It's going to be my last year producing this podcast, and I am also making changes to it to reduce the effort and workload for the year. I implemented those with this episode, and I think it will make a real difference. DW seems to think letting go of the podcast is not a good idea, since it keeps me busy with a project. But I grow weary of deadlines, and that's my prime motivation - having no deadlines to meet anymore. If I'm going to be creative, I'll do it in my own time and on my own schedule.

I managed to finish the podcast just as the ballgame came on. I listened to the podcast to proof it while the first few innings played out. A tough, strange loss. But the podcast sounded OK.

Dinner was Tuscan soup with too much kale and no parmasean. DW admitted it was not her best effort, and the kale was a bit too much; she usually uses spinach. But it's food, and overall good food, so no issues at all that matter.

After dinner we watched the last eipsode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and found it to be awful. Another gimmick episode. Disappointing. Then she went off to watch her shows, and I spent the evening looking at YouTube. The last channel I saw was an AI-generated channel that was both eerie and informative. The information being presented was accurate and good advice, but the "person" whose channel it was ("Bruce Carter") was clearly an AI-generated image. I also saw the channel was just recently started in August. The internal conflict between "good information" and "fake person" is unresolved by me. Very odd.

At any rate, I got a very late start cleaning the kitchen, but got that done and went to bed I would say around 11:30 PM.

That's all for now. 'Til We Meet Again!
