It's a pretty nice morning this morning. I got up at 5:30 AM to pee, and it's now dark at 5:30 AM. That may have helped me get a little more sleep this morning.
After morning routine yesterday I made myself a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on sourdough for breakfast. It's my favorite breakfast sandwich of all time. I checked in on my rotisserie team, which is holding its own in the mid-tier, but there was nothing really to do. I looked at a couple of other web sites, including my usual Sunday newsletter camping site, checked out a pair of pants (I am on a hunt for lightweight long pants that are not jeans), and then decided to attack the dirt pile once again.
Instead of moving dirt, though, I thought I would just break up the rest of the pile. So I got that done, and then let it go from there. I also wanted to check in on my solar panel, but I believe I made a critical error. I tried to add a second solar panel to it to increase the voltage to use the high voltage input, but I may have wired the panels wrong, or they were otherwise incompatible with each other. The end result of my efforts may have been to fry the solar controller inside the power station. This doesn't make the power station useless, but in an emergency it does limit how I can recharge it. I have a small generator which can recharge it, and I can always use the energy from another battery or solar charger to recharge it, but without a solar controller it may be impossible to recharge it independently with solar. This is another instance of how I am bad with tools and mechanical things or anything that requires electrical or mechanical knowledge. I could buy another power station to replace it, but I won't do that until I get a sense of what my current power supply actually is. So that goes on the to-do list.
After that little mishap, I came in to rest up my muscles and prepare to watch the opening day of football. I am not a particularly rabid football fan, but DW loves her team, so I watch with her. A wild and close win. It passes the time OK.
I felt kind of sleepy after the game, but avoided a nap. I wrote a small post for my front-facing blog, and otherwise cruised the internet until dinner. DW whipped up a couple of pork chops with rice and beans - simple and tasty.
After dinner we sat down to watch the two TV shows we've been following: Star Trek:Strange New Worlds and Ted Lasso. The Star Trek episode was good, and very much in the tradition of the franchise, but the Ted Lasso episode was not really all that interesting. I don't quite know what I am watching with Ted Lasso. This one was character-heavy and followed a number of subplots throughout. But it seems all too melodramatic, with relationships being the point. Not sure how DW likes it so far, but I would give it up.
I killed a little time after the shows reading some reviews and commentary on the Star Trek episode, but I wanted to get to bed a little early, so I cleaned up the kitchen and hit the hay around 10:55 or so. Not that much earlier, really.
