Hey There!

It's 8:24 AM EDT, 57°F, Humidity 65%, Wind 13 mph W, overcast

Yesterday I got an early start and had an abbreviated morning routine, as I had to get out of the house by 9 AM and on the road to teach a class in Son2's studio, which is a two-hour drive. I made a pot of coffee, wrote yesterday's post, got my lunch prepped (DW did that, making a PB&J sandwich and an apple), and I left about 9 AM. I thought I would drive through but the gas was sort of at a questionable level, so I filled up at the tax-free reservation and drove on. The drive was quiet and pleasant, little traffic, and the colors are starting to come out on the trees.

I got there a little early, and Son2 and I had a chat about the future. It looks like I will be leaning into teaching in the winter months by subletting Son2's current apartment. DW will come with me when I go. So it's a 99% done deal I won't be going to AZ this winter. I will miss that. But between finances and such we decided that staying home was the better option. Teaching will also give me something to do over the winter months, perhaps easing my SAD. I hope the forecasted mild winter comes to pass.

The class was fine. There are people who really aren't interested in the profession, but want a taste of the action and techniques. So it's going to be a relatively easy course to teach.

I took another back road drive home, fearing too much sports-related traffic. The ride was pleasant, but the angle of the sun is now such that you have to be careful with the sun in your eyes. I live in some very pretty countrysides.

When I got home, however, there was more bad news about my SIL. Her behavior was apparently so incredibly bad - rude to the staff, aggressively demanding, continually calling the front desk - that they want to kick her out. It took so much work on the part of everyone to get her in there, and she is now so far gone and so completely paranoid that it may be difficult to place her anywhere. And these places are not cheap. After some begging, the place said she could stay the rest of October, but that may be it, unless she can correct her behavior, which in her demented state may not be possible. And the costs keep mounting up. Her finances are in complete disarray, she won't reveal her assets, and we found out she hadn't paid her taxes on her house this year. Even though she is a day's drive from us, the ripple effect of her behavior is reaching both DW and I. We do not know at this point what to do with her, but we have a month apparently to put together Plan B. I do not foresee a good end to this situation.

DW and I watched Ted Lasso, but for me the series is losing its appeal. Three big developments were included in this episode, so it's winding down. Star Trek is apparently over, and I am surprised they completed the season with the episode they did. No real cliffhanger, no real conclusions. One more season to go.

I filled the evening hours with some YouTube, cleaned the kitchen, and went to bed at 11:15PM. For the record, the total number of mice caught is 4. I've had the trap set for the past three days, but no mice have made an appearance.

That's all for now. 'Til We Meet Again!
