Hey There! It's 8:14 AM EST
It's nice this morning. Chilly, but with a little sun and blue skies for the moment. This time of year you have to soak that kind of weather in while it's here. Looks like some snow is on its way later in the week.
Yesterday was hectic. I got up in the morning and had to do a grocery pickup by 10AM. I stopped at a local donut chain to get bagels, and man was it slow. You'd think they never heard of someone buying a half dozen bagels before. I think I had an inexperienced counter person.
When I got to the Walmart I had to wait a bit. The young man who brought my order out was none too bright. I had laid out several bags on the floor of my trunk for him to use. He used a couple of the bags at first, but put those bags on top of the empty ones. When he "ran out" of bags, he began just putting the groceries on the floor of the trunk. He also apparently had another order on his cart, and mistakenly put that order in my trunk as well. When I got home to bring the groceries in, there were a number of items that we did not order along with our order. DW went through the whole order to make sure we got everything we ordered. The extra we just kept, because we didn't know what to do with it. There were mostly some chocolate chip muffins, Lucky Charms, a six-pack of Gaterade Zero, some Pringles single serve chips, and bananas. I suspect the person who ordered these items was none too thrilled.
Once that was completed I took a friend to see a show in Big City. I didn't want to go, but the show was OK, and we saw a couple of people from the business. I didn't get back home until about 6PM. Even a matinee means night driving this time of year.
Dinner was salmon and breaded shrimp from Omaha Steaks. Their salmon is too salty, but the shrimp were better. Then in the evening I went down a camping rabbit hole looking at videos of budget camping gear. I seem to be addicted to this stuff, and every time this happens I have to go through the process of reminding myself that I have plenty of camping gear already for the little camping I do. Buying somethings else that I think I'll need is a habit I have to break. I find it hard to do for some reason. The compulsion to shop for something just so you can have it on hand seems to be very strong. It's consumerism at its worst, and although I have a conscious awareness of what's going on, it's still a very strong pull.
Today I have to edit and prepare my podcast, and then take a break to help my former colleague with his podcast. I want to get it out so it's done and out of the way for the rest of the week. I seem to have chores piling up a bit, which is not an ideal situation.
