Yesterday was another day of small accomplishments. After my morning routine, it was nice enough to take a walk. I wore a puffy jacket against the wind and slight chill. Here we are, the beginning of the traditional summer season, and still I feel I have to wear a puffy jacket out to take a walk. The forecast seems to be calling for temperatures in the 60s, with little sunshine this coming week.
After I finished my walk and had some breakfast, I went out to the big box hardware store and bought some items to fight the flies that seem to have infested my porch. I bought two flypaper sticks and a can of fly killer. When I got home I went out and hit the flies with the spray. I think I got the ones I could see, but I am sure there are more, and I still don't know the source. I hung up the fly sticks, but I don't think they will do much good.
I also bought a cheap hose hanger to use to hang my EV charging cord. I am not good with tools, and I spent a fair amount of time fumbling around trying to find the right tools for the job. First I tried manually putting in the wood screws, but the head of the screw seemed to require a torx bit, so I had to go looking for one. I found a drill I had that would create the hole, so I used that. Then I found an impact wrench I have never used, but it was the wrong tool. I tried a power screwdriver for which I had found the power cord the other day while cleaning out my desk drawers, but it too did not have the right bit, and was underpowered. Finally, I found a cordless power drill I have which I also have never used. I found the right bit, put together what I think was the correct extension to hold the bit, and drilled the screws in. Once I got the hanger in place I wrapped the extension cord around it and then the charging plug. Overall I think this will work well enough. I have ordered a cord mat to go by the side door so no one will trip over the extension cord. It's by no means an elegant solution, but for a talentless individual like me, it will do the job.
Once I got that done, it was time for an afternoon baseball game. We won in a squeaker with a walk-off HR. During the game I did a little more web surfing on the EV, as I continue to look for as much information as I can find. Once the game was over, I wrote a detailed post for my public blog on the EV.
Dinner was some Italian Tuscan soup with sausage and kale, and some garlic toast. After dinner I decided to watch a movie, and after that movie I watched half of another. Both had Japanese themes. I want to be able to find more Japanese movies and learn some more about directors other than Kurasawa. I find American cinema bland and uninteresting, and I hardly ever watch a movie produced by a US production company. Bedtime was 11:27 PM.
