Yesterday was a pretty tense and anxious day in the morning that calmed down a bit in the afternoon and evening.
After the morning ritual (no walking, still sore), I set out to do my taxes. They are not complicated in the least, as my financial life is as bone basic as you can get. But this is the first year that I am dealing with RMD distributions, and I am trying to get a handle on what my RMD amount is, because it appears there's a box that wants that amount. For now, I am assuming that the money they distributed to me in total on a 1099R is equivalent to my RMD. One of my retirement accounts shows me this amount, another doesn't. So when I can't get financial numbers I tense up. I am attempting to verify this before sending in my taxes.
The other speed bump was getting DW's social security numbers. We had to go through the process of getting her an official government ID login to access her SSA account on line, and it was challenging, but we succeeded. On the one hand I like the security; on the other hand it's quite a process to navigate. The US Postal Service is as slow as molasses these days when it comes to forwarding mail, and I know that somewhere in the mail pipeline the actual paper documents are in transit, but getting them here has not been what I'd call timely.
By the time all this ended I was knotted up in a ball of tension. I actually had the taxes done, but I remain unsure of the final numbers, so I can wait a bit to get some information from my financial advisor. And DW now has an account for SSA. I need to teach her how to use an authentication app in the near future.
Once that was all over, I turned to baseball for the rest of the day. I watched the Netherlands v Dominican Republic, Nicaragua v Israel, Panama v Canada, and I watched the replay of Korea v Chinese Taipei. A satisfying way to finish off the day. Dinner was chicken fried steak, which was a first for DW to make, with a sweet potato. Got to bed around 11:20 or so I think.
