Hey There! It's 8:25 AM EDT, 57°F, Wind 5 mph N, sunny. It's the first day of meteorological summer.
Yesterday was a day almost entirely devoted to getting the RV ready for another season of camping. After morning ritual I took a walk, had breakfast (DW practically insisted I have pancakes), and then went on FB to swat flies, getting rid of messages trying to scam me out of my bike. I may have to change strategies on that bike. Pricing it at a fair price does not seem to be working. It just attracts scammers who want to lowball you. When you stand firm on your price, they disappear, which tells me they really don't want the bike to ride it.
Anyway, around 11 AM I got into the RV and began de-winterizing it. The first thing I did, however, was check once again on the GFIC plug in the bathroom. I tried to replace it last winter before leaving for AZ but sort of gave up, Yesterday I went in and reversed the wiring, and that got the switch and the circuit working! A small victory! Now I can use the 120 V AC outlets in the RV.
Then I went through the process of getting the antifreeze out of the water lines. This entailed draining all the antifreeze into the gray tank and flushing out the lines with clean water. I had to break out the garden hose and set it up to get that accomplished. The next step was to drive the RV to the campsite and drain the gray tank. Before I did that, though, I went to the Nation to get gas. $90, and the tank was not even on empty. I am glad I'm not driving this beast anywhere this summer.
The driving took up a lot of time, and when I finally got back home I had some lunch. Then I made up a diluted bleach solution to sanitize the tank, and I filled the tank with the solution and more water. I went to turn on the water pump to move the water through the system. That's when the trouble started.
The water pump seems to have decided to quit. I am not sure right now if it's dead, or if it's just not primed enough to pump water. I suspect the former because I don't hear the pump running at all. No whirring sound. I tried eveything I could, but there wasn't much to try. I don't know where the fuse for the pump is, and the wires around the pump are a mess. Now, to be fair, the pump is the original pump - 2008. So it's run for 18 years, and if it's decided to quit, I have no beef. But I do have a problem, and being mechanically disinclined, it's an issue for me. I have no experience with such things.
At this point I decided I could go no further until today, and so packed everything up, went in the house, and turned on the ball game. We won with a big 3rd inning, but the opposition put up a good fight until the end. I napped through about 4 innings though.
Dinner was salmon, bsamati rice, and a salad. After dinner I really just blew through the evening researching RV water pump issues (how to repair videos) and watching more EV videos. I stayed up a little later than normal due to the nap. Bedtime was 11:50 PM.
