Hey There! It's 10:18 AM MST, 43°F, cloudy
I wrote yesterday evening when I completed all the projects because I was pretty overjoyed about that. This is my attempt to get back to my more preferred morning schedule. So there's not much to add to yesterday's late night post. Although I can report I was the first one to get all the projects read and submitted!
I've already taken a walk this morning, so I am trying to get back on that track as well. It's clear that all the traveling and reading has interrupted my routine. The past 17 days have seen a lot of disruption. The combination of stress and fatigue has really made me value all that more the routines I have, and how much I like peace and quiet. If there is something I think I am now going to shoot for this coming year, it's the attempt to simplify and reduce my life even more. I think I'll probably be entering what is called the "go slow" years in retirement circles. I think it's going to take maybe two years to accomplish everything I'd like to accomplish. I'm looking at some major facelifts, but stage one will be getting rid of garbage first - things I absolutely don't need. Then it will be saying goodbye to more commitments - no more saying "yes" to things. As I believe I mentioned yesterday, I want to end the year feeling I've reduced the eventual burden on my kids a significant degree. Once I can wipe all the obligations off the table as well, it's on to stage two.
The land will go. The RV will go. As much camping gear as I can get rid of will go. The scooter will go. The Honda will stay. Things like that. "Go slow" means staying close to home. I might not come back to AZ next year - far too much hassle. These are the thoughts right now. I will try to document the progress here so I can hold myself accountable.
Notable deaths: Alex Pretti, Minneapolis ICU nurse at local VA hospital, shot by ICE agents, 37.
